Hard to prepare for Smolov. It’s pretty intense. And I’ve only done a few cycles of the Smolov Jr. program. I will say that squatting that often really made me a better squatter. I did cheat a bit and squat every other day rather than four days a week. Just to give my body an extra day per week of recovery time. I can’t wait to see how this program plays out for you.

I’m really looking forward to it and if I could commit to squating on all the needed Sat. this spring I’d do it now but I would have to miss one weekend and from what I gather thats a deal breaker.

Have a friend that did Smolov for a year. He made great gains but the volume was a mental challenge more than anything. If I could carve out enough gym time I’d like to try it someday.

I cannot imagine doing it for a whole year. I’m just trying to be as prepared as I can to get one cycle done properly.

275 came up smooth and I stalled for a second. I think I could have ground it out but spotter bumped it. I don’t really blame him because it did stall for a second but i wish I had just one or two more seconds to grind it out.

Nice work Joe, where are you setting the pins for the presses at the base of the chest or where you have a sticking point? I may reintroduce them on Saturdays but since I lift raw my sticking point is always at my chest lol.

I set it so that the bottom of the bar is touching my chest.

I did smile at the .5 for the 370 squat. I’m thinking one of two things…you got stuck in the hole, or it was a completed lift but just high.

Oh it was very high but there for a minute I thought it was going to be good.

I normally miss a weight a few times before I hit a new max. That said I am probably close to needing a deload. I’m also most likely going to need to reset my squat and bench numbers a few cycles from now.I’m still hitting PR’s but it’s coming harder and it’s taking longer to recover from it.

You are so close to some big PR’s. Vegas is betting you hit them inside of 3 weeks.
