How bout the Saints beating the bucs. Nobody picked that one. Sorry, I’m a Saints fan. I also think that if Deuce Mcallister stays healthy than he will have a breakout year. Yea Mufasa, I think Vick is going to be scary. And we have to play him twice. Another thing, what happened to St. Louis?
Some exciting games yesterday, no doubt. But the NFL has finally got what it’s wanted for the past twenty years – PARITY! I can’t stand having every team in the league be so, well, equal. There’s not much difference, save for maybe the Bungals, between the bottom and top of the league. And there are no more dynasties. It’s hard to even build one anymore, and that’s a shame.
- that’s me smiling BEEG after my Niners’ win on Thursday night! As for the Saint’s beating the Bucs yesterday? Wild. Man, I have VERY high hopes for Gruden. How about the Chargers? I think I’ll be writing off the Seahawks now.
But yeah - tremendous opening day! Now ON to Monday Night Football, babeeeee!
Are you in Houston? I grew up there and hadn’t yet detected the presence of any other Houstonians on the Forum. I agree the game ruled. Where do you train?
no one picked the saints???haha We’ll me and my boys did…boy did they won us some $$$$…i knew once I saw the spread that it was too good to pass up the chance…thank you saints!!!..eh um…Dallas? embarrassing!!!..I’m looking at the Jets and Packers Superbowl
I don’t give a damn about the cheerleaders; the team that matters got their asses kicked. Thanks to Girly-man Quincy Carter, I lost the second half of a tease (I had already won the GB/Atl half). I lost the StL/Den game as well; it looks like everyone is going to take a page out of Bill Belicheck’s book in stopping the St. Louis offense. Stop Marshall Faulk, and make Warner beat ya. Either way, I’m only out $37.50, but it was worth it. I had twelve hours of non-stop football action. And by the way, I agree on Michael Vick; kid’s got game. Other things that pop into my mind:
Dwayne Rudd is a bonehead.
Priest Holmes is still the real deal.
I called it again; TB is cursed. I honestly have no idea why.
McCaffrey is going to make a huge difference for Brian Griese.
Donald Driver is going to be the next Antonio Freeman in GB.
No matter how fast your receivers are, it won’t mean squat when your quarterback is a wounded-duck throwing sissy named Quincy Carter (see above).
On the bright side, I have my DEFENDING WORLD CHAMPION PATRIOTS’ opener tonight!
Being an FSU fan I was not to excited about rooting for Spurrier this year… But he’s making it easy. Giving the ball 30+ times to my man Stephen Davis. And beating up on the scrubs of the league(Arizona), when you’re a Skins fan that makes ya happy. Norv Turner only ever beat the good teams, but lost to the weak ones.
Chargers are looking good with Marty Ball. I fully expect LeDainian to get 1,500 yards with Marty callin plays and Hauck, the best O-line coach in the NFL.
Marty Booker and Chad Morton had amazing games as well.
Hey Eric Casserly…what are you thoughts for tonight’s game? am thinking pats to beat spread…dunno yet…took a damn beating yesterday (FU rams, packers, cowboys for not beating the spread…no parlay)…but thanks to saints and college football came out even…
I didn’t have the guts to go all-out on it, even though I thought Belicheck’s defense would shut 'em down. As such, I just split a $25 bet with my bro just to keep things interesting. I’m betting against the spread (3). If Pittsburgh wins by three, we push, and I owe the bookie 1/10. Right now, all is well; it’s 7-0 Pats and Kordell has been picked off twice:)
ahaah…$$$ on the pats to beat the spread and they did it…didnt want to do this game but a friend of mine was a diehard pats fans so i caved in…plus was very impressed how they creamed the Redskins during the first 2 quarters of preseason…week 2?? tough tough one…am looking at the Browns over Bengals and Texans to beat the spread vs Chargers… NFL is toooo balanced…hard to predict
Week 2 is definitely going to be a tough one to call. The Cleveland pick sounds good; they’ll be angry after that KC game. Then again, Cincinnati got destroyed, too…
The Houston pick sounds good as well.
Personally, the two games I’m looking at seriously are Ten/Dal and Phi/Wash. If the spread is only 3 for Ten/Dal, I’ll take it. If it’s 3.5, I’ll be hesitant. I don’t think the Kearse injury will make a huge difference. Plus, Quincy Carter is a girly man and Dat Nguyen (Dallas’ best LB) is out.
As for the Phi/Wash game, I don’t think that Washington can hold back McNabb or the Eagles’ receivers. The thing that worries me is that Spurrier passing game against a team without its best coverage man (Vincent is hurt).
Yeah, my Pats played well last night. Running game left a bit to be desired, but it was definitely not a big part of the game plan from the beginning. I don’t know about betting on them in NY; I do, however, know that I absolutely hate Vinny Greenballs, so I might even bet for that reason alone.
da bears!?!? You’re kidding right? They looked terrible against Minnesota on Sunday, especially their defense. I think they were a fluke last year and will win 9 or 10 games this year tops. And relax everyone with the Patsies will ya. It’s one week and things change dramatically in the NFL from week to week as we all know. Remember those same Patsies were 1-3 last year after four games. They did look great against Pittsburgh though, I must admit. This is going to be a wide open year. I don’t think any team is a lock for the Super Bowl, even the Rams.
