I just had the most bizarre experience of my life.
I think I had a drug trip.
Only it wasn’t a drug trip. It was a movie called Paprika.
I have no idea why I’m posting this up, except to say that it was the most unique movie experience I think I’ve ever had. I literally just kind of fell into a sort of pseudo trance watching it.
Not only is there no way to explain the movie, but I’m not sure I could really quantify the experience if I tried. The experience reminded me of “Waking Life” except better and more surreal. I guess the closest I could come to explaining it would be to say that it felt like I was in a Salvador Dali painting, except without the sort of creepiness some of his work contains.
Highly recommended. I wasn’t planning on watching the movie at all, I just kind of accidentally fell into it. It’s 78 degrees and sunny with a cool breeze, so I was heading outside to relax, chill, have fun…and then didn’t. I really recommend it, but only if you can just start the movie in a relaxed, open state of mind, willing to sit back and just experience a movie without critiquing it during the movie watching. Or accidentally. Getting surprised like that tends to let you watch something uncritically as well.
I feel like I’ve tripped acid. But no nasty after effects ;).
Now, I’m going outside to enjoy the rest of the day :).
