Thanks. I’m leaning towards the iPad even though @bulldog9899 let me know his son uses the wacom’s at school.
I figure graphic design is more a hobby than anything else for me (a hobby I’m not very good at) and it just makes more sense to get the iPad since I can do other stuff with it besides drawing. Plus, I don’t want to go back to paying for creative cloud so I have access to photoshop and illustrator. I already use illustrator a lot for artwork I buy to resell in shirt/poster designs. Creative cloud is more than I want to spend a month for my side hustle.
Is Procreate still free? I thought I saw it was $10 now, which is not a big deal. I follow a few people on Instagram like Sim0ndee and lobstersquirrel (Lobster Squirrel (@lobstersquirrel) • Instagram photos and videos) and they make some pretty cool stuff with Procreate. It looks pretty easy to use and the finished products look fantastic (probably because they’re good).

I’ve watched a couple reviews on YouTube that have favored the iPad over a wacom around the same price point. Some have even said the pen is better, which kind blew my mind. Obviously, it’s dealers choice. I just found that interesting.
I picked up a Wacom mobile studio I’m hoping to spend more time with this summer. Always used photoshop but trying to pick up clip studio as many of the comic pros I follow seem to rely heavily on it and say it’s easier to draw with than PS.

I’m a complete idiot when it comes to art, but I love my daughter and think she’s a good artist. She drew this from a photograph.
As I said, I’m ignorant, but I think she is pretty good.

Procreate is a pretty cool program. The amount of features for $10 is pretty crazy.
I drew an elephant for my son this morning.

From what I’ve seen, that’s pretty cheap for one with a screen. I googled the one @The_Mighty_Stu mentioned up thread and my wallet slapped me in the face.
Yeah my son said it was one of the cheaper ones . I was like darnn.

Its the difference between a “companion” and the “mobile studio,”
The companions have a screen to draw on (unlike the older models), but still need to plug into a computer. The mobile studios are an actual computer. I’m typing on one right now at the public library (just dropped my son off at Summer Camp!)

Yeah, good stuff. You do know he sends me updates for feedback as he works on his pieces right?

Well I appreciate you taking the time ! On a side note my fears of him falling flat on his face at school have lesson compared to what they were this time last year.
