don’t need to repeat. 11 is solid. did you reset each rep or touch and go?
Laugh out loud at 11 = failed attempt. Keep going up.

OK, gotcha.
I reset each rep, some more successfully than others. That is to say, sometimes I reset like total shit.

I am happy to be your entertainment. ![]()
I’ll keep going up in weight, but at the same time remembering “ass out, chest up”.

Well, that’s lousy of them!
I wouldn’t ditch a workout partner because she had a good work ethic, I’m pretty sure.

Only, I’m not as furry.

T, I can see the pic just fine. Think small white furry doggy doing an iron cross on some living room furniture. Worth seeing.
What sucked about today’s training:
-
Apparently the only hour I was able to get to the gym today (I NEVER go on Mondays) is when the local high school football team invades the weight room for off-season training along with their laissez-faire strength coach. I am not exaggerating one little bit about this.
-
The cable machine was literally the only piece of open equipment for the first fifteen minutes of the training, with at least 3 boys surrounding every bench, every rack, every single oly bar in the place.
-
100 lbs felt heavy on my back when I finally got the squat rack. WTF?
What didn’t suck:
-
I showed up for my 5/3/1 squat and MP day. Some days, just showing up is a moral victory.
-
5/3/1 allows for not doing jack shit other than hitting your reps and leaving. 100% genius. The guy who wrote it and me for choosing it.
-
One PR is better than no PR. By alot.
Cable Pull-throughs
49.5 1 x 13
52.5 2 x 10
All reps controlled, stellar ROM, nice flat back and chest up.
Back squat to 3 risers plus a step
Bar 1 x 13 warmup
65# 1 x 10 warmup
80# 1 x 3 working
90# 1 x 3 working
100# 1 x 7 money set
From the get go, 100# felt heavy. When the pronounced knee cave set in, I called it quits.
Military Press
40# (2 20s dumbbells) 1 x 3 warmup, 1 x 3 working
45# 1 x 3 working
50# 1 x 8 money set ← rep PR +1
One rep better than last week.
Choosing to end this debacle on a non-low note, I thusly picked up my stuff and walked right out the door.
applause
congrats on your pr, woot woot!
i don’t call it a debacle, i just cant help but wonder… if the boys were doing more standing around than working, what stops you from sharing the equipment? If someone isnt doing a timed set, i let them know I’ll be helping myself to the piece in question unless they’re touching it.
Sucky Stuff:
- That does suck
- I could’ve made something out of that scenario
- Hmm…could be a number of things contributing to that
Not sucky stuff:
- Exactly!
- HAH! And we thought math would never come in handy
- Damn straight!
You’ll get the squat back up the next time.

Thanks for helping me focus on the positive. ![]()
The kids were switching off, three to a piece of equipment. Constant motion, absurd noise levels…the moment one gaggle moved off the rack I slithered my way in.
Only to have two boys pulling nasty-ass hang cleans three inches behind my step. Wasn’t their fault – there was no room in there. Luckily there was only a fiver on each end of the bar.
hahaha u said “slither”

I was just not in the correct frame of mind to make the best use of the cable machine. I was there for squats and that was that. Inflexible much? ![]()

Right – next time will be squat-better.
The last couple of trainings have really shown me how attached I am to my lifting routines. I do poorly when disturbed. Apparently my focus leaves much to be desired.

And I meant it too.

when i get to train with you (not if), you’ll be surprised how motivating my cattle prod and taser are.
FOAMY
Oh how I feel your pain. I lift at a University gym with an extraordinarily high level of brotard. Squat rack curls, tee shirt lifters checking out their abs, kissing EACH OTHERS biceps, “its all you” bench deadlifts, and routines consisting of nothing but arm and chest work.
I have found that being cruel to them often opens up equipment.
