I don’t know that Islam has to go away for there to be peace, but I think it needs to have a smaller role in society (how religion is in Western Society). Things like higher quality of life, higher quality educations and access to information seem to make a society more secular. The richest Arab countries seem less extreme than the poorer ones. They are concerned with getting soccer, golf and other sporting events to be held in their countries, building cities, and making money more so than eliminating infidels.
This whole post has a lot of postmodernist tendencies.
The question is, considering indoctrination - how many innocent lives are you willing to sacrifice *today* for the possibility that some individuals about a hundred years from now come out un-indoctrinated?
What will be done about the living situation and culture of this region to help end this religious extremist indoctrination? Or do you think this will change on it’s own with no outside help?
Of course there are, but are they worth the cost that the negatives have? The FBI made the same argument with Charles Manson. Just saying.
Definitely true. I am not supportive of secular society, but it seems to be an inevitable byproduct of pursuing improvement in the areas you mentioned.
Still not perfect though. I think there’s still tens of thousands, if not more, slaves in the UAE.
I hesitate to say, because he is very hard line. He has a lot of You Tube teachings. Most people cannot listen to him. James W Knox. (I have been listening to him since 1994)
Dispensational Truth (book) by Clarence Larkin will open up the Bible like no other single book could. He was an architect and has numerous detailed drawings many which span all known time in a single drawing.
Lastly, find a small group of Bible believers who challenge one another on defending their interpretation of the Bible. But you must go into every discussion looking for the truth and NOT looking to be correct. I do this nearly daily with text messaging with our group of 4.
Right now, we have a lot of indoctrinated people that haven’t actually performed violent acts against Israel. The majority do support the idea of eliminating Israel and Jews. Right now those are thoughts / beliefs. Is it justified to kill over thoughts and beliefs? Actions, sure, I am all on board. Hamas should be handled with violence. If you are actively helping Hamas, same thing.
I get where you are coming from. I really do. I am just not sure where I draw the line. As much of a risk as people who hold these beliefs are, I don’t think violence is justified until those beliefs turn to actions. I think trying to dismantle those beliefs is what should be done.
I think it will change on it’s own. That is one of the slower options though. I think religion will trend down worldwide over time. It may go up and down over shorter periods, but I think long term the trend is down.
I would have to be convinced that killing over thoughts / beliefs was justified before getting to this question.
Charles Manson also responsible for a lot of death. It wasn’t just his ideas.
I agree. I think the Middle east is one of the most backward places on this earth. I think the UAE is likely less backward as a result of mild secularization than they were previously. It takes time.
As to all the trouble that the Jews have been subject to by numerous factions throughout history, Spanish Inquisition, Holocaust, Arabs, etc., what makes most sense to me is:
Matt 27:24, "When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children."
Turns out they are the same thing, at least according to the second paragraph of the Wikipedia article I linked. It can be vague, you probably confused “concentration camp” for “death camp” or “extermination camp”, and people debate what “concentration camp” should mean, but the term comes from Spanish in the 1800’s before Nazi Germany.
This thread is about the conversion of an existing concentration camp into a death camp, to exterminate several million people
By the way, Palestine has Gaza and also has West Bank. So when you say “Hamas”, do you really mean ALL of Palestine, or do you mean all of Gaza?
Its a difference of exterminating 3.something million human beings who never elected Hamas, even though they are systematically treated especially poorly.
Your first link had a quote in it along with a link
" Maybe they don’t realize that the Jewish people are the only ones that meet the U.N. definition of indigeneity, and have for 3000 years when Jews started living on the land."
When I clicked on the link and read it, I found:
Understanding the term “indigenous”
Considering the diversity of indigenous peoples, an official definition of “indigenous” has not been adopted by any UN-system body.
and also
A question of identity
• According to the UN the most fruitful approach is to identify, rather than define indigenous peoples.
So just an outright lie, behind a link, behind an authoritative voice
I could be wrong but I believe it was Joseph Goebbels that said good propaganda speaks to peoples laziness.
Making comparisons to the Nazis. So the people who were almost wiped out by the Nazis have more in common with those Nazis than the people (Muslims, yeah, yeah, not all) who want to wipe out all of the Jews? Great logic.
Cool. I didn’t say the words were inspired by God, or that the author was infallible. I thought the point was interesting, and seems like it’d be important to those who support Palestine, given that they’re likely often the same ones supporting indigenous people, such as Native Americans.
I hope the freedom fighters win over the hearts and minds of those who think of themselves as well-informed. Don’t we usually like the little guy who fights for his homeland? It’s the NPC meme all over again.
It would be helpful to know what the acronym represents. Being on a weight lifting type forum I can’t get National Physique Committee (NPC) out of my mind.
