The Israel / Hamas Conflict

And then I realize that I ought not leave that hanging.

Rational conversation is usually quite difficult when the topic is incinerating innocents.

It is not on me alone to make the conversation as easy as possible.

No, that was not what I meant. I doubt if that is even true. If it were, it would still be an extremely bizarre justification for barbequing babies in a concentration camp. Kill innocent children for the sins of Arab kings (allegedly)

How innocent is a party if they knowingly aid and abet a known terrorist organization?

Did Hamas not also deliberately target civilians like 2 weeks ago?

Calling Gaza a “concentration camp” and referencing Nazis is quite the stretch. How many hospitals did the Jews have in Nazi Germany again? Did their NICUs get emergency aid when they ran low on supplies?
Right, so lets not mince terms here.

Babies didn’t do that. We are talking about barbequing babies, because you said ALL of Palestine in your OP. Babies are as innocent as people can get.

It is not a stretch in the least.

You’re welcome. Thanks for speaking your mind and contributing to further conversation. I am interested to hear what you have to say, truly.

No, you are. If there were a way to save the kids age 0-5 years old, sure. There isn’t. The ones older than that have proven that hatred can be so deeply ingrained that kids as young as 6 have blown up bombs and shot at US troops.

You said “concentration camp” and references naziism. Now youre changing terms to “internment camp”, which is not the same thing and we both know that.

I’m sensing some selective outrage here.

Is it only ok when they’re Israeli babies? Or is any baby just as tender and juicy as the next?

Does their innocence enhance the flavor? Or are the Israeli babies also enslavers of the Palestinians?

I don’t think I have heard of their being a difference before. If I have, I don’t remember it. If there is a difference, I didn’t know. If I knew, I would have started with internment camp. I have zero interest in lying.

What I will do is be lazy/selective/efficient about what I will look into, which might at times seem worse.

Let me know if you find a good macro count on babies. MyFitnessPal doesnt have that saved for some reason.

Maybe just log it as veal?

Soylient Veal.

They’re basically the same as brisket.

Interesting. From me, specifically?
You couldn’t possibly detect such a thing from anyone else?

I highly doubt if I ever promoted the barbequing of any babies, ever. Like, even when I was in middle school.

I definitely haven’t done so in this thread

Yep.

Its a well known fact that Americans hate babies. I was looking for an outside perspective.

That’s true, I did make a mistake their. I allowed one drop of sarcasm. I have failed.

sigh

You can call it selective outrage if you want, I don’t find outrage to be very accurate of a term for what I have displayed here. I am selective - I said that already - and someone here ought to be - and I’m not the only one.

I’m not the one calling for the incineration of babies, I haven’t called for killing anyone. The outrage you detect is from elsewhere.

and then joking about it, when its a very serious matter - you surprise me.

Keep believing the lies

It looks like a joke, but I don’t get it. It might have something to do with abortion, I dunno.

I am American fwiw. Half white, half Afghan, I was born here. My grandfather was in the military - Vietnam. My (white American) great grandfather fought in WW2.

I don’t know what you are talking about. Doubt is the opposite of belief.

What alleged lie are you referring to?

Thought these were interesting. The part in the first one about indigeneity and colonialism was cool.

Something I’ve been thinking about is regarding innocence is how do we go about thinking about the effects of indoctrination. Are these people that have beliefs about the elimination of Israel evil? If so, I believe most people can be evil. I’d probably have the same beliefs if I was born a Palestinian, I think most of us would, just like most of them. Are there positive qualities still present in these people? I have to believe there are.

Indoctrination is tough to break. It can take generations to do, but it can happen. We don’t see the English going on crusades anymore as an example of that. Indoctrination that is tied to religion seems especially tough to break.

I think the long term solution that is the most humane will involve breaking indoctrination. How does that happen, and how does it happen the fastest? I believe Hamas has to go, but after that, how do you eliminate extremism with the remainder of the people?

The English are also way less religious now. I don’t think problems in the Middle East will end while Islam remains strong, which I don’t see ending for a long time, if ever.

This is how I understand who best holds claim to the land:

Jews were living in Israel 2,600 years before Islam was a religion.
Jews were living in Israel 2,100 years before anyone was known as a Palestinian (aka Philistine)
There is an Egyptian stone slab from the 13th century BC that speaks to Israel by name as the land.
There is a Canaanite stone slab from the 9th century BC that speaks of King David as king of the land of Israel.
Babylonians seized Israel in 586 BC and from that time until 1948 the Jews were dispersed from their land. (Some came back.)
But the Jews that managed to live in their homeland, they were dominated in order by:

  1. Babylonians
  2. Persians
  3. Greeks
  4. Romans
  5. Byzantines
  6. Arab Islamic Empire
  7. Mamluks
  8. Ottomans
  9. British Empire

In AD 135 Roman Emperor Hadrian, to squash a Jewish revolt, dispersed the Jews out of Jerusalem and to “add insult to injury” renamed the entire region as Palistina, which is the Roman name for Philistine. So all persons living in that region from AD 135 until 1948 were known as Palestinians. That include both Arabs and Jews. If a Jew was born in Palestine in that time frame (when birth certificates were given), even a Jew’s birth certificate would show that person as a Palestinian.

I’m always impressed by your Biblical knowledge, as well as knowledge on Bible-adjacent topics, such as this. Are there any particular resources you’ve found helpful?
