The Incredible Hulk

The Hulk still looks pretty fake (I mean, apart from being a giant, green behemoth)

Dammit. That’s the ONE thing that peeves me. They can create an amazingly real T-Rex with CGI for the Jurassic Park series, but they can’t make one convincing muscle-bound green dude for the Hulk? It’s not like there are no large-muscled men in this world to use as reference!

Baaah! I’ll go see it anyway.

The Hulk is impossible to represent without suspending reality in your mind. His musculature and physiology looked better than ANY CGI of a human body ever made in the close up shots. The muscles flexed appopriately, veins popped out under stress and you could even see striations and cross-striations which were anatomically 100%. They simply could not have done a better job representing a 9 foot tall, 900 lb green monster.

Agreed. Those nitpicking at this point as far as his appearance are just being silly. I have NEVER seen better, and that includes Gollum on the Lord of The Rings.

They spent some time on this one.

I loved the references to the TV version - it was cool to hear the audience react as well.

A few favorites:

The Bill Bixby cameo on the TV.
The hitchhiking music.
Jack McGee!

Along with the Ironman cameo, it seems they are going to have Banner “control” the Hulk for future episodes with the final meditation scene.

I just saw the movie and it was way better than I expceted. Tim Roth is the man.

The Video Game isn’t looking too bad either.

They apparently cut out TONS of footage in this movie, including the discussion banner had with Doc Sampson. I can see now why Norton took his name off of producing credit.

It seems they had a choice to make. They knew from the last movie that people don’t have the attention span to accept a detailed explanation of HOW he became the Hulk. They knew that people wanted more action. I guess they split the difference and ended up with this…much less story.

I personally like detailed story lines and I sure as hell hope all of the edits make it onto the DVD. [/quote]

I heard this as well. From what I understand, the movie was well over 2 hours after 90% of post-production was finished and they cut off almost an hour. It didn’t surprise me that the plot suffered because of it.

Should make for a great DVD.

Bill Bixby was in it. FUCK!! Now I have to watch it again.

You say that like it’s a bad thing…

My only complaint was the guy who played Sampson was the douche bag from Dawn of the Dead 04 only now he looks like the AIDs patient version of the douchebag from Dawn of the Dead 04. It was nice how they teased new gamma creatures not just the Abomination but another. Also anyone notice the place Banner was meditating in? A place in Vancouver British Columbia? A wooden cabin? A wooden cabin that looks remarkable like the wodden cabin a certain mutant used to reside in? Finally I think they did the whole control it thing because back when the Hulk and Avengers where created Hulk was similar to his grey persona of the late 80’s-90’s so maybe they’ll introduce that aspect into the Avengers film?

I’m really optimistic that all the scenes will be in the DVD release. I really don’t see how they couldn’t be these days. Practically every DVD that comes out now seems to have a special edition or director’s cut of some sort.

For the record, I still really enjoyed the movie and thought it kicked ass anyway.

Think about it though…if they use Sampson like he was in the comics, that guy is going to make a HUGE transformation himself. Maybe he looked starved for a reason. Considering everything they got right, I doubt they would skimp on that character later.

It’s just it’s the douchebag from Dawn of the Dead I just detested that character so much that when I saw him I went awe.

Maybe I didn`t explain my thought well.

The original (comic book) bad guy was a Russian soldier. I`m guessing the comic was written during the cold war.

Now, in the movie, since the Russians are our allies (more or less), they need to update the bad guys origin.

What I dont understand is why they made the bad guy an American soldier. Doesnt America have ANY enemies in the world?

In the movie, Emil Blonsky was born in Russia and then trained in Britain. The army personnel had to call in a favor to get him (why? Don’t know, don’t care). The only thing american about him in the movie is the uniform he wore.

What about Mr. Blue getting a few drops of tainted gamma blood on the open cut in his forehead during the genesis of Abom scene.

Seemed to me like a bit of a teaser for The Leader. Not one of the best known villains around, but an evil genius nonetheless.

My buddy just brought up an interesting coincidence. Anyone else notice all the lightning in the movie? With Betty and then in the final fight fight? What’s Marvel’s next project? Cue in KISS’s God of Thunder Thor!!!

The movie was hot, and I’m glad someone explained Blonsky, although you all got it wrong in that Abom was not Tim Roth, but Tim Blake Nelson, of O Father fame. They do look a lot alike, though. I think that the dvd will definitely include everything left out of the movie, as the movie definitely suffered from the lack of a good plot. But overall, I loved it. Can’t wait for more of what Marvel has to offer.

Eh? Tim Roth was Abomination, and Tim Blake Nelson was Samuel Sterns, AKA Mr. Blue, AKA The Leader.

Wait a minute…Tim Blake. That’s the name of Thor’s alter ego. Or was it Donald Blake. The doctor who would slam his staff to the ground and boom!..He was Thor.

Upon further review (not really…just a light bulb in the head) you are correct. My bad.
