“I want no quid pro quo”…that sentence has never been organically said by anyone, ever. Definitely not by a walking hemorrhoid like Trump. I doubt he’d ever even heard the term until these allegations came up in the last month or two.

Enough to impeach? Proof of a high crime or misdemeanor? Circumstantial evidence isn’t enough to convict in a court of law.
Like the presumption Trump colluded with Putin?

I’m all for getting Trump if you can, but prove something damnit. At least Newt had a stained dress. Congressional Democrats are asking everyone to just trust them again. They’ve known the outcome of this impeachent trial since November of 2016, and they can’t prove it. But they just know there’s a there, there.
The Dems needed to prove this strongly enough to have a Rep Senate also impeach, and they haven’t. So now the Reps are going to have their own little star chamber and you bet your ass they’re going to call Hunter Biden and Romney’s kid to testify.
I should have put “/s” afterwards. The point being, if this is so clearly a slam dunk, and Trump is such an idiot… there must be a smoking gun stronger than a presumption.
Nevertheless, they’ve still recovered and are growing.

Oh yes, it most certainly can be, even in a criminal trial where the standard is higher. Even when you have to prove that something happened “beyond reasonable doubt”, circumstantial evidence - filling in gaps with reasonable and logical inferences - can satisfy.
The standard in impeachment is not BRD - it isn’t a court of law, it isn’t a criminal proceeding, and doesn’t require 5A and 14A Due Process.
But, let’s say it is BRD - I think even that standard has been met that Trump extorted Ukraine with the aid for campaign dirt. The facts are there, as I described above.

We have introverted evidence that Trump and his cronies were engaging in a QPQ for campaign dirt, the payoff was a meeting with Trump. There’s no dispute.

Suddenly and mysteriously, the aid gets held up to Ukraine. Congress freaks out and demands explanation, so you know something is up. Trump has his phone call, mentions the aid and mentions he needs the favor.

The only reason we don’t have direct testimony on who ordered the aid freeze and why is because it’s being hidden behind privilege. Ok, but the existence of privilege doesn’t require us to turn off brains off and not infer what happened with the aid.

And based on the facts, it’s a no-brainer Trump increased his leverage with the withholding of the aid to get campaign dirt. To believe otherwise is to believe that in the midst of, again, all this uncontroverted evidence and admissions that there was a QPQ in play, that the aid freeze to Ukraine had no role in the QPQ, it was separate and apart from it, and it was mere coincidence. Absurd.

Pile on top of that the administration will not give an alternative explanation why the aid was frozen. There’s yet another fair inference there.
He did it.
Is it impeachable? Well, is a president requesting a foreign power to interfere with an American political campaign of a domestic opponent for personal reasons by using public resources and power in defiance of Congressional will an abuse of power?
Yes.
Would you want any president to do this and still maintain the trust of the office?
No.

It’s only “campaign dirt” if the Bidens, Romneys etc… are innocent of corruption. It is a legitimate line of inquiry if they were peddling influence of the United States in return for salaries for their sons and relatives.
Just like Dems argue getting a FISA warrant with no evidence on a president elect was absolutely legitimate because of the gravity of the suspected crimes.
Again no minds will be changed. But don’t expect the Reps to actually remove Trump without inescapable proof of a crime.
