Add another vote for the soccer sucks camp. I would watch woman’s golf before I watch soccer. Borrrrring.
If soccer was such a great sport then great countries would have great teams - its the only sport where Costa-Rica has a beter team than the good 'ol USA. Case closed.
Actually, watching soccer is good training for the troops: If they can stay awake during a soccer match, then they should have no trouble with guard duty, staring at empty desert. Let’s make watching soccer part of basic training!
We need to perform an experiment: put a soccer game on the old telly in any typical American bar or club (the game can’t have Brandi pulling off her shirt! If ANYONE from the USA is watching after 15 minutes and no one has smashed the set in or shot it, then I’ll admit I’m wrong and that soccer is not ‘bollocks’.

This sport sucks!!! At least in baseball there are some seriously jacked guys hitting a ball that travels above 90 mph for hundreds of feet, strategy and the like.
Soccer is a bunch of pencilnecks running up and down, up and down kicking that stupid little ball around.
As for it being popular, who gives a fuck? Just because something is popular in a bunch of backwards ass contries like Brazil doesn’t make it good!

If 90 minutes of watching people run up and down a field chasing a little white ball just bores the living hell out of you, then post here.
I can tolerate baseball, though often fall asleep on the rare occasion that I watch a game. Hockey is fine, mostly because of the fights, and its over in 60 minutes.
I know I’ll get flamed by the soccer crowd on here. Go ahead…it’ll certainly be more lively than soccer, ice dancing, and curling, and all such other ‘sports’.
HH
Are you serious? Just because it isn’t popular in America, don’t dismiss it as a sport. Let me guess, you, just like every other American sports journalist, thumb your nose at soccer, but have no problem calling Golf a sport.
Cricket is also huge in several countries. Is this not considered a sport because it isn’t popular in America?
That is just a little arrogant on your part. Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it isn’t a true sport.

Golf sucks cock too. But at least that is for rich old farts to relax to.
yawn Yes, I am sure you are the greatest football mind of our time and I am quaking behind my keyboard at the moment. How will I ever continue with my day?
Your worst crime is your posts are neither interesting nor even remotely amusing. Feel free to keep throwing around your tough guy persona - it’s very convincing thus far. You and HH with his “soy lattes” lines. Hoo boy! You guys sure know how to win an argument! I mean, that’s some compelling stuff right there. Clarence Darrow would be proud.

do any american soccer haters plan to watch their team play today just to give it a shot and support your country?
who knows, you might (gasp) be entertained.
I’m trying my hardest to watch it right now. It’s pretty painful.
Of course it is painful for you to watch! Your team sucks!!!

Hey dude, you just keep throwing those spinning bird kicks and you going to be fine…
Maybe.
I think he’s just self-conscious of the fact that these “soy latte” drinkers he loathes actually kick harder than he does.
I love engaging in internet banter but when your arguing with total ignorance it makes it difficult.
In case anyone was interested The Czech republic just beat the USA 3-0. Now thats not to say you were bad, but this Czech team may proove to be a class ahead of a few teams by the end of the tournament. Nedved is a genius. You can still qualify for the seconf stange so rally round and support your guys.

Doogie is one of the most knowledgeable posters on this board. Also, you soc hoppers who make our posts look like what we’re not saying are confirming our opinions about soccer players: little rat-dogs chasing their little play ball around in the yard.

i’m not saying it won’t make you tired, but it’s only gonna increase your serobic capacity about as much as lifting will, which isn’t very much. and then only if you’re out of shape to begin with. walking for 4 hours will increase aerobic efficiency 100% better than 75 all out 2o yard sprints over the same time.

My basic point is that football requires a baseline aerobic fitness that is actually higher than most people who haven’t played would probably expect.
No, it’s not as high as soccer or basketball and it’s definately not as high as long distance running or cycling.
But it IS there.
The whole sprinting thing was simply a very simple analogy I made up to attempt to put that baseline aerobic fitness into terms that are easy to understand. I.E. if you can’t complete that sprint workout, you’re likely going to struggle to finish a full regulation football game.
I agree with you that playing football or running 75 20’s over 3 hours is not the ideal way to improve your aerobic fitness. My point is that you’ve got to possess a solid level of aerobic fitness to play 60 minutes of football or run those sprints.
I think we’re on the same page here, swivel.
BTW, you can very definately improve your aerobic capacity by lifting if you use very short rest periods and high volume.
