I’m saying if you cant kill it with your hands, feet and teeth then you dont deserve to use a gun to do the job
This thread reeeally makes me want to go out and purchase a firearm.

How does the Taurus stand in reliability/durability.
I was under the impression that they were kind of crappy quality.
I’ve heard alot of negativity about taurus as well, but I have no complaints about mine. I paid $400 for mine (brand new).

I don’t know how much you know about the round, google will bring up a ton of info though. It falls just below a .41mag as far as power goes. If you’re not opposed to glock, they make a g20(fullsize) or a g29(subcompact) like I have. Some people hate glock, if so there’s always the colt delta elite.
Its basically a 1911 thats chambered for 10mm. Theres also the S&W 610, its a revolver that shoots 10 or 40, using moonclips. Nice thing about the glock though, is you can get .357sig and .40 conversion barrels from lonewolf for about 115 bucks. So “three” guns for one.
Thanks bud. My brother-in-law owns around 15 guns and plans on selling his Ruger .357 and another pistol (.22 I believe) to buy 2 XDM .40S&W’s, so it was his recommendation to begin with.
I own a .22 rifle and a 12 gauge shotgun so I’m interested in people’s take on a good pistol.

Varganir,
I’m in the market for a pistol - preferably for home defense. What are your thoughts on the Springfield Arms XDM .40S&W?
I’m curious to hear your thoughts… And HolyMacaroni’s as well.

if you feel comfortable handling the power of a .45 (which honestly after practice, which you should be doing anyways, isn’t much) i would suggest moving up to a .45 cal. Springfield xd makes great pistols, i would definatly suggest you get the fullsize if you will be using it for home defense. as well as a crimson trace.

Excellent… Thanks Mac. I’ve shot a .45 before but never shot a .40S&W. I like the fact that the XD hold 14 rounds as well.
Do you have a lot of experience with the XDs, Mac? 'Cause I’m always hearing about how the XDm barrel is the best thing since sliced bread. Always wondered if it was just a bunch of bull shit from Springfield, if the advantage is negligible, or if I should be seriously considering buying one for my next .45.

No prob, I try to spread the word about the 10 any chance I get. Love the damn thing. Doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves. G20 holds 15 btw, and with 6in barrel its good to go for hunting in most states, if you like to do that.

well, i do own one ![]()
is it the best thing since sliced bread? maybe.
is it a fantastic pistol? absolutly. however, i HIGHLY recommend putting a crimson trace on it. a visable laser could be the best thing since sliced bread.
but yeah, if you have the money, i would defintly spring for a fullsize xd in .45, you will definatly not be dissapointed.

Looking for a can for this.

How do you feel about the grip safety? It always seemed like an unnecessary safety feature that would just get in the way, but without having handled one, I wouldn’t know how well it would work out of the draw under stress.
Also, would there be any reason to get an XD over an XDm besides price? I’m not totally up to snuff on the differences between the two.
Anyone here with military experience and gotten their hands on a 240 or a saw? Those are some fun guns to shoot

Yeah, definitely love my 240.

For those who store their ammo in surplus cans, it might be a good idea to wash them out first.
I got a couple of questions here.
What do you guys think of Kel-Tech?
Particularly the sub-2000 that takes the handgun cartiges.
Secondly, what is your take on building your own ar-15?
I was reading, and found a guy who got everything, parts, tools, ect for under 600$
Thats about half the price of what you would pay for one yourself that is already assembled.
kel-tech sub-2000 is a no no.
a BIG no no. promise. i was going to buy one too until a guy who actually owned one let me shoot it.
yuckatory.
hell yeah building your own ar-15 is def worth it (if you have any idea of what you’re doing)

Be mindful that some of those cheaper builds involve freebie parts that the person neglects to mention.
A good resource is http://www.ar15.com which has lots of technical info, industry forums, and a marketplace where parts are sold known as the Equipment Exchange.
You have to figure out the purpose of the rifle, be it bench shooting, zombie slaying CQB, or somewhere in the middle. Also take into consideration your budget and parts availability, which is VERY slim right now.
Oh, and stay away from these manufacturers like the plague- Hesse, Blackthorne, Vulcan, Velocity, and Olympic.
Anyone have any opinion on Fulton Armory’s M14 CQB?
