The Gravity Wars!

I am going to have to find the article/video, this was put out years ago back when I was gnawing at the bit for my first 225 bench. So like middle school for me back when I was home schooled and didn’t have anything to do (thankfully I’m fairly well adjusted socially) except read, surf the internet, and lift and other hobbies.

Anyway, this was probably early 2000’s that this happened. This was back when Ed Coan was still somewhat jacked, Jim Wendler was a fat fuck, and Dave Tate wasn’t a cripple. Basically back when Jim was working for Dave putting on seminars and writing articles. One very important thing to keep in mind is that Elitefts used to be the most fucking ghetto company imaginable, and it was one of the good ones. Powerlifting was really fucking weird shit back then instead of being pretty mainstream (as far as fitness goes), and fitness still had a pretty weird feel to it too. A lot of those seminars back then if you can find any videos left basically felt like cult meetings, they’d go to like a basement of a church or some place, Dave/Jim would demonstrate some exercises, there’d be a powerpoint, and people ask questions about conjugate at the end. The fucking high end ones were at Holiday Expresses and shit like that.

So needless to say there wasn’t tons of money associated with what they were doing, so when you get a job you fucking took that job. Dave and Jim were offered what they thought was a private seminar at someone’s gym in some rich area, but first they were supposed to meet up at the guy’s house. They’re at the guy’s house, and it’s a pretty nice place, and what they think is the guy’s mom answers the door. The guy comes over, dressed like a kid, and talks to them, and they found out the woman is the guy’s wife. They talk for a bit, and the guy calls for his kid to stop playing with “Uncle Eddy” and to meet Dave and Jim. Both of them calm down a bit because the whole thing was giving them a really weird feeling, but if Ed Coan knows him it must be okay.

Except he didn’t. They end up meeting up with Ed Coan in the other room and he looks fucking terrified, and they ask him about how he knows the guy, and kid since he referred to him as uncle. The thing is that he literally just met those people, and it ends up that they were being paid to just be at that guy’s house.

I forgot how it ended, but I think they all left at that point. Either that, or they left Ed Coan there. I’ll have to find the story because it’s been years since I heard/read it.

“As you can imagine, we had some interesting hosts over the years.
Most good, some bad, some odd. One of the strangest situations Dave and I
have ever been in was being driven to the hosts house – he picked us up
at the airport and we hung out at his house for a bit before we ate. As
Dave and I were sitting on the couch, the host had to use the phone or
something at he left us alone. We hear some noise from the bathroom and
out walks the host’s mother in her bathrobe. She squealed and apologized
for not having her face on and hurried off into her room. Dave and I
just looked at each other and were amused/confused but brushed it off.
There’s no shame in living with your parents, as times can be tough for
everyone.
Finally the host returned and his mom came out and we began talking.
Eventually, the host introduced what we thought was his mom, as his
wife. I couldn’t look at Dave because I knew he was thinking the same
thing. I bit my tongue in order to not laugh. While having a
May/September romance isn’t a big deal, it is when the woman looked
exactly like Mimi from The Drew Carey Show.
Uncle Eddy
This may be one of the weirdest encounters I ever had during a
seminar. The seminar was hosted in the Midwest area and I was living in
Kentucky at the time. I told Dave I would meet him there and drove there
on my own. We were to meet at the house of the seminar host. I had
never met him before, nor had Dave. So we were scheduled to meet there
at around 7:00 p.m.
I arrived first, rang the doorbell, and was greeted by a man wearing
the highest pair of pants I’ve ever seen – they were pulled about three
inches from his armpits. This fashion faux pas was accessorized with a very healthy dose of Imaginary Lat Syndrome. I silently cursed Dave for making me endure this alone.
I got a tour of the large house and then was brought into the Trophy
Room — creatively named by the owner due to the large amount of trophies
in the room. Now, I’ve played a lot of sports and was pretty good. I
finished first most of the time. And I have never seen so many trophies
from one person, in one sport, that really hadn’t done anything. He took
me through some of his more prized plastic gifts, bragging for a half
hour about this, about that and really not impressing anyone but
himself. Looking to change the conversation, I asked him what he did for
a living. He responded, “I make a lot of money.” This answer still
haunts me to this day.
Finally the doorbell rang and I was saved! Dave was here. But it
wasn’t Dave; it was Ed Coan. Ed had some time off and asked to come to
the seminar and just hang out. The host greeted Ed enthusiastically.
The host also instructed his young child to address Ed as “Uncle Eddy.” I
didn’t think anything of it as I was just excited to have a buffer
between me and High Pull Pants. After a couple minutes of small talk,
the host ran upstairs and I greeted Ed. I asked him how long he knew the
host. I’ve never met him in my life.”
Whatever disagreements Dave and I have had with training, work, life,
Ohio State football – being late to this guy’s house is the only thing I
have never forgiven him for.”

My memory was a little foggy because it’s been a long time.

Lol. Honestly dude everyone is different. I wouldnt say i have the best genetics out there as far as being a woman goes, but they are fairly decent among the majority.

I think a factor for me is how short I am, sporting 30in quads at the moment, and they all the more bigger from me being not even 5 feet. I also spent a majority of my time squatting with semi-uncomfortable volume for months on end, keeping them like 15-20 reps at a time. By uncomfortable i mean, more than a 5-7 rm max, but heavy enough to where you struggle from the first rep all the way to the last. I also am of good structure for squatting since it makes up a giant portion of my total, so that could be a factor. Idk anymore. I kind of have a clue, but everyone is different, and quite a few factors can come into play.

I have never played a better game than Abe’s Odyssey or exodus. They are simply incredible stories, simple to learn, hard to master and visually stunning for its time. Abe guided my through my teens

I was a Diablo 2 and Starcraft gamer on the PC and CoD on the PS3 during University. Logged a lot of hours on those puppies.

D2 is still awesome. If I could get online again with it I’d still play but I’ve got a hacked version and the CD key doesn’t work.

Sorry @BOTSLAYER for clogging up your thread. We can take it over to my log for discussion if we want.

I got into the Black Ops pretty good. There were 3 of us living together who each had a PS3 and TV in our room, headset and black ops 1 then 2 through university. Plenty of late nights/skipped classes playing those games.

I was a pretty hardcore black ops nerd. Part of clans, 3.0+ KDR, no scoping videos, etc. Oh ya, those were the days.

I took a break from browsing the forums and completely missed that you started a new log. I’d wondered what happened to you… My bad.

I am loving all these video game ideas!!

You were built for powerlifting. I cant think of another sport that being short is beneficial but PL definitely is.

This is hilarious…and super creepy.

SQUATs
Work 5-3-4 @ 465
intermission
Quad X
Ham Curls

All in all this Workout was MUCH better than the last Squat Workout…which says like nothing.

Yea so somehow I probably had more on that last set buuuuut I almost crapped myself and since I dont even let my squat shoes touch the floors in my apartment I sure dont wear them in bathrooms so I skipped my back down front squats.

Back was tweaked when I woke up (like normal) but it felt pretty bad once I got to my working sets today (not normal). In general my form was loosey goosey uncontrolled shite today. I am probably going to script the rest of my sets and reps and no more AMRAPs to help that.

Going to do what I can to stick strict AF on my diet plan then on Saturday it is BOURBON AND FOOTBALL BABY!!! (Meal plan is pretzels, 95-5 Beef patties and Metamucil because we drinking ALL the calories baby!!!) Sunday cardio and low calories then Monday if I still look presentable I will probably bump the calories to ~3800-4000 from 3500 this week.

AM: 96.6kg 93.5cm Waist and looking really good.

My back was in a LOT of pain through out the night and in the morning. Itook Ibprofen and Aleve but nothing helped. SO I made a contingency plan(s). Doing BB work and continuing to cut for the next 3 weeks is a VERY attractive option. I would get leaner than I have ever been then the heavy prep starts when I could rebound a minor amount.

6 Workouts left before Intensification phase:

OPTION 1 (Drastic) is 3x8s starting at 335 and adding 20lbs each workout until I either fail, I can go back to my scripted workouts or it is time to start the intensification phase of prep. (If I went back to scripted workouts what ever workouts I missed would come off the tail end.)

OPTION 2 (Moderate) is scripting and limiting reps and sets. My next 6 workouts would be
5x3@485
5x2@505
4x2@525
3x2@545
5x1@565
3x1@585

OPTION 3 (Minor) is just limiting reps per set to 2. I could do sets until I got sloppy.

Anyone have any input/tweaks on these???

Amazingly my back was not bothered by Benching even with a hard arch and my back did get better as the workout went on. It is back to proper fkt now though.

My form is feeling reat for bench…I guess I can either have Bench or Squats…I WANT MY FKN SQUATS!!!

BENCH
Working:
5-4-4.5@335
5-6-5@295
Pec Dec
Cable Press

Pecs looking striated AF at least under great lighting hhehehe and I skipped any dumbell work because I didnt want to pick up dumbells with my back.

I’d look at minimum work to achieve the results you want. Since squat and bench together piss your back off, I’d start by dropping squat volume. Work up to a heavy one to three once or twice a week and leave it at that. See if that’s enough to let your back recover. If it isn’t, reduce bench volume slightly.

I love how everyone here keeps it real AF

This is why you take a battle crap.

Yes, this always and thanks!

For now I am going to go the light weight route because my back is fine with that but I do think I am going to drop some volume off my prep.

I just wanted to be a body builder so bad for just a couple weeks hahahaha

Doing some reading and stuff, this will be my first full on hurricane. Dont tell my wife but I am kind of excited. I have a ton of chicken, tuna and whiskey (and ice) and being in a Hurricane is on my bucket list. I have tomorrow off from the gym, Sunday is optional so bring it puta!!!

Obviously my wife is freaking out. Ideally our bedroom wouldnt have so many windows but nothing is perfect. It looks like we should miss the hugeness of it or what ever.
