So you’re becoming a lean, mean fighting machine! Don’t worry about the weight, I suspect it’ll come back once you’ve returned to a less-intense daily physical regiment… Whenever that might be. Most importantly for now, you’re healthy and learning!
@Skyzyk what do you think are some of the causes of such self-obsession?
I’ll throw in a vote for “humanity”
That’s a doozy!
I’ll throw in with Punisher and say it’s part of the human condition. Not every human, but enough of them.
That being said, the following is just my opinion. I think it is in response to neglect or sacrifice, real and/or perceived. That then becomes part of the rationalization “I earned this/deserve this”.
It can also be a part of that claustrophobic anxious feeling people get when everything around them reminds them of everything they’re trying to avoid. Getting out of that to be able to clear the slate and focus on something (or nothing at all) can be very useful.
As hard bitten or cynical as I may seem, at the core I’m pretty pragmatic. Some people do need these things and if it helps them to achieve a goal or improves their state, I’m all for it.
My own little luxury has been fly fishing and outdoors. Sometimes when I’m about to jump out of my own skin the best thing I can do is get out to enjoy and observe (and more often than not, eat) nature.
I took on an “apprentice” of sorts this year for shroom hunting. Not necessarily a mistake, but the dude obviously had the wrong idea about me. He wanted to turn it into a supply/production type venture fully equipped with timeliness, quotas and supply contracts. I did have to explain that I have an entirely different modus operandi, but if he wanted to do that himself, that’s all good too.
I actually went on a spiritual retreat once. Unfortunately it was over in the mountains, and the whole region is littered with trout streams. After a few hours of people emoting and finding themselves I had to bolt. To me, there is nothing more honest than a stream born brown trout that thinks the fly I tied is ugly.
The level of stupid is rising on some of the threads on here…
The Resolutioners have invaded T-Nation!
I agree. I used to look forward or actually want to respond to threads and now…I don’t even look at very many threads besides a few training logs and a few other threads I’ve already posted in.
Wow! I just saw it. Holy shit!
Actually I have seen several the past few days
I’ve gone back to lurker with the exception of this thread and training logs. I just don’t have the energy to respond anymore.
This thread is all we have left. If someone posts a hot or not photo or asks about dynamic tempo stretching isometric pause reps for lean bulking or some shit I’ll burn the thread to the ground.
Jesus Christ the pear shape thread. What the fuck.
People who post walls of text.
Does anyone else hit the back button when they see such a post?
If you can’t make the effort of adding paragraphs into a post then why should others put the effort into reading it?
This thread is usually one of the first I check, so when I see mentions of a new ‘theater of the absurd’ thread it’s like a treasure hunt for me.
100% concur. I assume it’s a reflection of their effort in all parts of life, and in turn imagine they won’t have much success with training.
Can I do that on the pect deck?

Well time to get off my ass and start figuring out Meet prep for the oldest for a March Meet.
Last day of work and then a week of camping in Kosciuszko National Park, have no motivation to do anything today.

Heading to jindabyne? I have family who run a ski and camping shop down there.
Beautiful this time of the year
No Khancoban which is the other side
