The Flame-Free Confession Thread II

But can you put that on Instagram?

If you don’t understand something, it’s definitely wrong. That’s why I don’t take modern medicine.

It sounds like he’s half right, but he’s viewing things as black or white.

I agree that I don’t think it’s necessary to pursue maximal strength over all else in the gym. But, everyone trains for their own darn reasons. My goals aren’t yours and vice versa.

I could also argue that max muscle mass is stupid when the only reason you do it is to look cool. Is it functional? Is it healthy? No and no.

It’s kind of obnoxious to focus on your idea of what’s best and cram that down everyone’s throats.

There are numerous ways to achieve self improvement.

Confession:

These days I learn way more from the forums and logs then from the “coaches” or articles!

I used to be online at 0800 ET M-F waiting for the new revolutionary training idea to blindly follow. Now I just put in hard work on the basics and make slow and steady progress.

Wow. Wow! “I cannot adequately express how shallow and insecure I am, but here, let me try.”

There was a period of probably 18 months back in '08-'09 where i read literally every article, word for word and believed every one of them.

I think it took a while for all of us to figure out, the secret is… there is no secret. It’s just work.

Wise words, and oh so true. That should definitely be a meme or inspirational post or something.

Some routes get you places a little faster, or a slightly different place, but yeah, the bulk is just hard work and consistency.

Yeah I feel ya, that’s the crazy part. Everything works, but only for so long. You have to believe in what your doing so you will stick with it, even when u don’t want to or when progress stalls. But more importantly, you have to balance your recovery with the workload so you aren’t constantly driving yourself into the ground. It’s just balance with nothing set in stone other then hard work and consistency. At least that’s what I’ve figured out after 15+ years lol!

I tried butter in coffee… why hadn’t I tried this earlier… I think my struggles over spending on overpriced lattes are done

I love(d) it so much. One of the things I really miss being dairy intolerant is butter.

Canned coconut milk with a dash of maple syrup (the real shit, not that Aunt Jemima crap) is also delicious.

I’m lactose intolerant too but somehow I can handle a bit of yogurt. Hopefully I don’t kill a toilet after finishing this cup

Today I failed my very first exam in university (calculus). I used to think I was a smart person but I’m having a bit of an existential crisis that began several weeks ago when I realized I had difficulties and that built up to today.

This was a test that held little weight and can easily be made up for, but it served as a reality check.

If I’m having issues with the easy stuff, what am I gonna do when things get harder?

I confess that this is the weirdest use of quotes I have seen in quite a while. Quoting almost any other of the words would have made way more sense.

Edit: In fact, I now confess that I am going to read everything from that thread in a Christopher Walken voice now, because he is the only dude I can think of that would emphasize those words in that sentence.

I feel ya brother. Came from a very small high school and thought I was really smart. Went to the top university in our country and saw the kids bred in the top science high school using solutions that even the teacher didn’t realize could be used. I on the other hand barely passed basic college math. I think I can say I turned out alright based on where I am now. Only thing you can do is keep your head down, grind, and keep moving forward. You’ll be alright. Don’t be afraid to ask for help along the way.

That thread is quickly turning into a shitstorm. @SkyzykS sorry but honestly man, at this point, I’m just cheering for the opposition just for the sake of. Lol

While him and his fruit loops go ahead and count which reps stimulate growth and which do not, I’ll just lift the damn weights and feel good about myself.

Oh wait, I can’t until next month. Crap.
