Not sure if this was rhetorical or flame-free venting or what, but the idea of filtering who’s allowed to give what type of advice to whom is tricky, at best. If there was a line in the sand for qualified vs. unqualified, the majority of forum members would fall on the latter, so we’d basically have free online coaching instead of a discussion forum. (Wait, that’s not really a bad thing. Nevermind, poor example.)
The TRT and Pharma sections are a bit different in that they manipulate internal chemistry, but nobody’s going to die from bad advice (because the “inject 275mg via neck EOD” are posts we delete anyway).
People listening to bad advice might end up in a bad spot and need time to undo the damage, but that’s not too different than getting bad advice on a form check that leads to joint pain or a blown disc in the short term.
We’ve always relied on people calling out bad advice, either refuting it directly with a post in the thread or Flagging it for a Mod (ideally that’s reserved for legitimately dangerous advice, not just debatable info one may disagree with).
With the dude in question, I’ve called him out on the anti-doctor bias several times, and will continue doing so when energy and brainpower permit. There’s also some onus on the OP of any given thread in deciding who to listen to, and not assuming every reply in a thread was on the right track. If we could figure out mandatory participation in the Photo Check-Ins, I think a lot of these issues would sort themselves out. But, alas.
Confession: I believe there’s a pretty reliable inverse relation between the anonymity of a forum persona and the quality of information they share. Fake username, random avatar, no training log/never discusses their own issues… likely has low quality info.
So it’s cool for me to call out someone if the advice could be considered questionable to someone’s well being correct? Even if I come across as a dick?
Something is WRONG here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is NOT good work. If this is the best god can do, I am NOT impressed. Results like these do not belong on the resume of a supreme being. This is the kind of shit you’d expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently run universe, this guy would have been out on his all-powerful-ass a long time ago.
Ran into a dude walking his 15 year old Golden Retriever, was surprised at how well the dog was moving around, how good it looked. He told me CBDs had made a ton of difference. (I had to ask what that was LOL). I’ve always viewed the whole MJ as medicine thing with neutrality, since I would never trust a (possibly biased) human’s opinion, but a dog’s “opinion”? Hmmm…
Ok, now that there is a thread about not divulging your medical history to your doctor in the pharma section, I think we can deduce that the subforum has reached critical mass.
