The Flame-Free Confession Thread II

Oh I’ll be honest since you mentioned the other side of the equation I have to admit it’s a little bit of both. It’s a savage loop where those two things end up feeding off each other creating a complete shit show. Where any constructive exchange of ideas or information goes out the window.

Does your gym have showers?

Also it’s easy to read more into what someone might type as oppose to a actual face to face conversation.

It’s easy to become jaded and make assumptions as well, because we see the same shit all the time.

That’s a valid point.
There have been many times I am sure when someone new post and your not sure if it’s nothing but a troll job. Which adds to the whole jaded perspective.

Im definitely guilty of the former (unconstructive criticism or just message delivered too bluntly). I need to work on my patience and empathy.

I would say a vast majority of us have been guilty of that at different levels. But on the other hand the level of empathy and patients one should show is going to be based off the situation.

I think its simply the nature of a forum that makes that hard. You see a question so ridiculous, so stupid, that you cant help but assume the person a moron. What you don’t know is that they are 13 and never picked a weight up before and that you’ve made that judgement viewing their questions / resonses through a lens of assumption that they are a reasonable adult with some small life experience, common sense and training history.

So maybe the first question should always be “how old are you?”

I worked out and showered without issue. All is well in my world!

Yep that’s a major pitfall. Since in most times assumptions are all people have to go on in certain situation. Since you mention age I think between that and different experience level can lead to conflict.

If I find myself interested i will ask how much time they have under a bar and go from there.

I’ve been “training” for about 3 years, but am by all means still a “complete beginner” in terms of knowledge.

It’s entertaining when you have guys with maybe 6 month or less under their belt and want to debate others with a decade or more.

My dog got out from the backyard and I am freakin the fuck out! Animal control, chip company, friends all notified, but his previous owner said to me that he got out once and someone found him 20 miles away, sooooo finding him may be tough.

I hope you find him quickly.

Are you on Facebook? If not, find someone in your area who is and use the power of social media to spread the word with pictures.

I put out a post on my wife’s account. A total stranger already drove around looking for him. It’s a great resource.

Oh man…please tell me Alfie has a dog tag

Hope you find him soon… or better yet, hope he comes back on his own

He has a chip - we take his collar off at night when he sleeps and I hadn’t put it on yet today so he’s not wearing one but hopefully he’s found and any shelter they bring him to will scan him

Yeah, people are really good about sharing the posts around here, I wind up seeing the same dog over and over again from my different local friends. It’s powerful.
