As a San Diego native, they did some horrible things to our city, haha.
But now the Chargers left, so they’re dead to me.

For the record I respect the hell out of Louie Simmons… But he said something once in a pod cast that made me say WTF? More or less he said most top unequipped guys lift that way because they are not athletic enough to use Multiply gear.
After my failed attempts with a deadlift suit, I am definitely lacking SOMETHING.
But was lack of athletic ability the issue?
If he’d said patient that would make a lot of sense to me. But athletic? Just off the top off my head I understand that Dan Green was a gymnast and Chad Wesley Smith a thrower (shotput or hammer I think). Plus Odell Manuel was a professional rugby league player for a number of years. A winger, in fact.
I think it’s his way of dealing with the decline of multi ply.
Just had a near death experience that was 101% of my own stupidity. After my last bench working set I decided I’d do 135 to absolute failure. Un-racked the bar and my thumbs were bothering me. I decided I’d slide them around the bar and bench with my wrists slightly back resting the bar in my cupped hands. Bar fell from lockout onto my throat! Scared the absolute shit out of me and my wife (spotter).
Lesson learned. Hold the fucking bar.
his Religion.
WTF not good. Are you Ok ?
Throat feels broken but I’m ok lol. I never got off the bench, got the bar up and went to work setting a 1 rep PR for single plate finisher move
. Resting between a OHP set as we speak (text?)
Wow a true guillotine press, well, almost.
I was in a gym when I was younger and was just playing around with Olympic lifts. I had a decent deadlift so cleans with 225 were pretty solid. So after about three sets I decided what’s that other Oly lift, oh yeah snatch. I’ll do that. Well never tried it before (maybe just the bar) but how hard could it be, I’m strong!! Well I ripped that sucker off the floor, past my hips, past my shoulders …oh my god this is really happening… and head butt the shit out of the bar. I saw stars but somehow I didn’t even drop the bar. Looked around, set it down. Lol meant to do that!!
I feel like there’s a lively conversation to be had about just how athletic an endeavor powerlifting even is.
I don’t think there’s anything athletic about being out of breath after walking up a flight of stairs.
I’ll join the dumb self injury confessions.
Was push pressing a couple years ago and realized the bar was drifting in front of me a bit so I rolled it back in my hands before the next rep. Didn’t think about how much closer the bar was to my body and exploded up just to hit myself in the chin and chip a tooth.
It hurt but I was embarrassed more than anything
I tend to be quite “out of it” after hard squat and deadlift workouts and there’ve been a couple of times where I forgot to look while crossing the street and literally got brushed by cars
I’ve done this with power cleans so many times
That is why a thumbless grip is called a suicide grip! Glad your o.k.
Yea I do it sometimes on OHP to give my thumbs a break. Figured bench would work too
. Needless to say there will be NO more suicide grip on ANYTHING
Lol for realz
