True
Though If this forum has taught me anything, its that the biggest hurdle for most beginners is they never actually get started, because they don’t have the ‘optimal’ training program and can’t decide whether they should bulk or cut. And clearly there is no point in starting lifting until you have the ‘perfect’ plan.
U also have to start on Monday, if not you have to just wait till the following week or your gainz will be all out of wack.
ha. I once started a diet on the 28th of December, i figured I’d have a 4 day headstart on a new years diet, but most people looked at me like I should be sent to a mental asylum.
Yeah . Always find that amusing. Never understood how a beginner would know what optimal would be in the first place. Sometimes I think it’s code for the easiest.
Yeah but what if they spend 10 years training hard and eating well sub-optimally and they only get to a 700lb deadlift when if they’d done it optimally they’d have pulled 735? Not worth starting if you’re going to get half-arsed results like that.
I think it’s code for “I’m the kind of person who will give up if I’m not gaining 2kg of pure muscle per month while simultaneously dropping body fat. Because for anything less than that the price of the effort isn’t worth the results.”
I’ll hopefully pull 700 this year, I’ve been lifting for 12.
Why did I even bother.
Yeah, you should definitely quit, not even worth it. ![]()
Agreed. Part of the issue is most aren’t in it for the long haul. I recall some marketing study that showed that the majority of people starting any type of fitness related hobby were done after 3 years.
Haha well we definitely shouldn’t let the beginners know about the fact that they lose their gains if they stop training. “What? I have to KEEP TRAINING for no additional gains? Just to keep what I already have? Bum deal!”
Ain’t that the truth. I experienced about a year and a half of gains and I’ve been maintaining for 12-13 years.
Maybe you should try something new, like pistol squats…justsayin’ ![]()
Don’t make me post my video of a pistol deadlift. Flap made a similar comment in the ADD Challenge thread and my first thought was to try a pistol squat barbell deadlift. I recorded it, and it looks gross. ![]()
This will be the go to joke that never dies haha
Pistol squats are right up there with clavicle lengthening now ![]()
3 years is the easy gains are over and everything take more effort for less reward
You joke, but I’m going to try them for the first time tonight.
As a beginner who has only a little over 2 years of lifting experience, I confess I was in search of an “optimal” program too. My reasons were a little different though. I had a few goals in mind:
- Increased sports performance
- Training economy; I didn’t like training like a gym bro with lots of exercises, reps, and sets. I also wanted my lifting to carry over to sports faster because I don’t have a lot of years left playing my sport.
- Injury risk reduction since I’ve got quite a number of sports related injuries
And yes, admittedly, I wanted to put weight on the bar…not necessarily the most amount at the fastest pace, but relatively quick. Glad I found this site before I hurt myself doing some stupid shit
True. But most quit before they even reach that length of time.
I didn’t mean to delete that, but I can’t be bothered.to rewrite it. So you have 24 hours to catch it. ![]()
