Man, I just never figured that people would do working sets of 10 with a weight they can hit 15+ times.
It just never crossed my mind to pose that as a reasonable question to someone who is not seeing progress.
I’m actually happy for typhoon season this year.
Typhoon= trip to pay respects to dead relatives at a buddhist temple(4+hr drive) is canceled
My ego must be tiny
I know this sounds horrible, but I honestly can’t stand my mom’s side of the family. They’re uneducated for the most part and very obnoxious- especially the males. There’s actually a saying that’s been passed down: “you don’t want to be a Chang man”
I try to be humble, but my estimated ego is huge because of how little knowledge I have

Haha kidding! I’m Asian too so I totally understand lol
It’s only my mom’s side. As I mentioned earlier, they still believe in these things and don’t factor in the costs of burning chemical/ heavy metal laced paper in agricultural fields.
My dad’s side are academics (philosophy professors with a concentration in Mao ZeDong thought) have a more rational approach- ie flat out told my dad not to do anything for them
I completely get driving 4+hrs to visit relatives, but I just don’t understand the logic of sacrificing so much for dead people. I’d love to hear your experiences with this stuff
It’s really hard to argue with deeply ingrained culture. I’ve learned to just let them be. You only gotta see them once in a while anyway.
I wish I could tell you some absurd Asian story but luckily my dad’s more on the scientific side too and isn’t keen to keep most traditions. It’s just a burden to be with certain relatives when in public places because they talk so loud sometimes without regard for the ones around them and I’ve always been the quiet type. I just focus on enjoying my meal while they’re at it lol
That’s EVERYONE on my mom’s side and my dad. It’s SOOO annoying
They’re family and most of the above is your perception. The world has enough boxing up and dismissing/insulting of people. Try find some common ground with them, you might find they’re not so bad once you find something to share.
True, I guess.
For the most part, they’re good people. I honestly don’t know why I find them/their place so unappealing. My dad’s parent’s place honestly isn’t much better, but I LOVE visiting those grandparents. It’s been this way for as long as I remember
I’m really sorry if I came off as immature/rude/crass. These feelings have been bottled up for the past 10 years
@anna_5588 this is gold. I didn’t really appreciate my family until I moved out, had kids and went back to see them as a parent. It’s not always easy, but family is too valuable to not work for and treasure.
noted. I love my immediate family to death. I’d do anything for them (which is why I’ve kept those feelings bottled up).
I completely and utterly disagree with this. The only family worth working for is the one you create yourself.
Flame Free - I’m all in on the Browns hype train (‘Phins fan since I was little) I freakin’ love Mayfield ![]()
I would never flame anyone following the Browns . Those poor bastards have suffered too long.
Agree to disagree. Although I think that if we got down to the nuts and bolts of it, we’d find we aren’t actually that far apart. From memory, we’ve had this discussion before.
Edit: It also appears I have cake next to my name, which my stomach is telling me is some kind of cruel joke.
Because you haven’t eaten cake? Go eat some, T-Nation insists.
I wish more young people would learn this forgotten art instead of being offended all the time at every single thing
