I have no idea how long they have been approaching their dynamic squat days like that. It might be recent, or it has been awhile, and no one has had a clue at least in the on-line community. Makes me wonder what else has been modified and or changed with what they do there. I have heard about some minor things before such as them putting more focus on dead’s. But seeing that chart it is a surprise … especially with the inclusion of some periodization like I already mentioned. Of course, it really does show and emphasizes how some so-called experts have no clue about how things are done there currently.
Oh man, I was kind of joking around, asking when did they start putting all the relevant information in 1 easy to understand chart. For years (and years) Westside info was scattered, buried, hard to find and nearly impossible to decipher.
I confess: I don’t understand how people don’t understand how to manage their social media profiles for professionalism…how do you not get that potential employers go there first, to see how you conduct yourself in a public forum, how do you not get that if that is all people see, that is their first impression of you, you don’t get another.
My wife as HR has nailed many a dumb ass when they have called off work with a excuse. Because they will post something that contradicts their excuse on the very same day.
I didn’t want to ignore your post and was just wise crackin’ about Louie’s impossible to follow writing style of the past.
Do you think you’ll try out that squat plan? I used to do Giant Cambered Bar squats for an ME lift and it was always hard. Using a tough bar for lighter work seems smart.
As a kickstarter backer of the hilarious inept “Westside Barbell vs the World” documentary, I was “rewarded” for my contribution with some seminar footage of how to apply Westside barbell principles to other sports.
I did not realize these seminars would just be footage of Louie Simmons “explaining” how to apply Westside to other sports.
Louie talks like a mad libs book given sentience. It’s like someone put a Westside Barbell seminar CD in a cd player, hit the “shuffle” button, and then occasionally slapped it to make it skip.
The best is when Louie drops some bomb completely out of nowhere and refuses to even acknowledge it in his stream of consciousness.
“Louie, how do you train bench at Westside?”
“Westside has always been 3 things: ME, DE and RE. Most folks don’t even realize the bench is a calf exercise: not the pecs. We rotate between 7 different bars and never touch a straight barbell. Percentages on speedwork…”
That was tough to watch unfold…I wasn’t aware of the kickstarter campaign initially or I probably would’ve jumped on that wagon, but as it stands I simply waited til I could order it off of Amazon and it appears I got it ahead of some of the backers still.
He was injured in his first game and he weighs a lot. I don’t agree, but I assume that’s the reasoning. Even coach K said though, he was out of shape after all the awards circuits and stuff. It’s too early to tell, but it’s possible that could be true.
