We need to clarify something here. Americans used the terms baked beans and BBQ baked beans interchangeably. When I hear that we’re having baked beans, I’m expecting BBQ baked beans. There are various ways to make them, but you can buy Bush’s and other brands from the store and get the idea. To me, baked beans is a BBQ thing. I guess I could see myself putting them on a piece of garlic bread, but I never would’ve thought about making a sandwich.

Confession: I was all set to run, which I do fasting, but we had a tree guy coming to tell us if our whole yard is dying (it’s not) and then I made the mistake of coming back in here (TN) with another cup of coffee afterward and now I’ve blown off my workout in favor of a motherfuckin baconeggandcheese sandwich, but on a whole wheat english muffin. And now I’m going to have another because it was so good.

Haha, it’s WAY better, at least my store brand’s. It’s denser and crunchier. You can’t tell the difference in Thomas whole wheat vs white. Although I’ve never had my store brand’s white, so maybe you can’t tell the difference there, either.
At any rate, I just finished the second, and it was awesome.
I’m on vacation as of today.

Growing up we made English Muffin pizza - total shit Murrican food. Brown ground beef and onions. Toast english muffins. Top english muffins with Ragu Pizza Quick sauce, then ground beef mixture (mince for you British bastards) top with monterey jack. Slide in the toaster oven for five on 400 (F for you British bastards).
This was soul food for me. When I was in Orlando with my brother, RIP, we would make this and watch The Love Boat and we were transported back to our pre-teens.
Now that he has passed, I make this with my kids, and it is awesome.

Our BBQ joints throw a piece of garlic bread on the plate with the entrée. I find myself using it to soak up whatever is left behind by the beans and meat. It’s not a stretch to think I could just put the beans directly on the bread.
That’s what cornbread is for!
