The Flame-Free Confession Thread II

I dunno man: a coconut is covered in hair and has milk. I’m pretty sure it’s a mammal.

Sorta like a round yak?

Same here. Wife is wanting a new house my first question was about a garage. When she mentioned the house she is looking at has a larger garage and a unfinished basement I got sexually excited.

Ugh if your like me. Get ready to have to have crap stacked in a corner if space becomes a issue. I will say having to set things up and tear down for each session Sucks! More so after a demanding session but still better than a commercial gym.

Right now the set-up/tear down is how I’m operating, since I have a 1+ garage and my wife parks in it. However, the new house is a 3 car garage, so I have 1 of the spaces all to myself to use. Shouldn’t be an issue. I’m pretty excited.

Unless we get the new house… I now have something to hate you for :disappointed_relieved:

I’m trying to envision how the hitching would be different and it’s just not happening for me.

Thankfully I have the perfect personal demonstration

Note how, as I hitch, I’m able to oscillate the ends of the bar with the whip and effectively “ride” the whip up in order to make movement happen upward? You can’t do that with an axle, since it’s so stiff. You try to make the bar whip and nothing happens.

Ah gotcha. Makes sense why I couldn’t imagine it, as I don’t think I get much bar whip/bend. Light weight baby!

DAMN GOOD ARTICLE!

All beginners should do this. I would say go from 4 to 8 reps personally but thats just me. So the 4-8-4 method for the major lifts. Everything else 8 to 12 seems right!

My range is 6-14-6, also using the quarters and plates method.

Double progression is a very solid choice. It’s only real issue is it can get to a stage where it is hard to add even another rep. So still needs some smarts but you can go a very long time without facing that.

I’m a super fan of Alanis,

And U2 as well. Which according to @dt79 makes me a jagged littled pill.

Alanis would go down on me in a theater. I like her.

I love that method. I used that to squat from 225 to 275. Taught me “not to be scared” of the weight!

For sure man. I think with double progression you probably get to a 400 squat/dl, 250+ bench, BW strict press just following that method before needing to do something else. Possibly even a 500 squat/dl, 300+ bench, 200+ strict press.

Is this the thing where you only use 45’s and 25’s? Sorry, have to translate to American (metric ftw)

Yup.
