The Flame-Free Confession Thread II

Most cases tweaking it, is a understatement . More like butchery .

At least those guys do a vague semblance of the program. The worst are the guys who won’t even try a program because they have it in their head that it won’t work for them. My favorite recent one is from this thread you were answering: Intermediate Program for Muscle? - #14 by FlatsFarmer

“Guys i said hypertrophy not freaking 5/3/1 and powerlifting stuff i want to build muscle size and a lot of it.” For context to those who weren’t following the thread, this was in response to @T3hPwnisher and @isdatnutty suggesting 5/3/1 Building The Monolith.

Some of those plans were no joke. I plan to do building the monolith.

But isn’t this the only way they learn?

I care less about their learning than I do about a decent signal to noise ratio.

But also, the lesson they tend to “learn” is that no programs work, rather than that they are their own worse enemy.

Which is funny since the OP had slightly over a year under their belt . Even funnier the OP wanted to bulk the suggested approach he was given. When the one giving the advice I believe ,started lifting when the OP was still sucking on his mama’s tit.

I am at the same point… My pet peeve is when guys over tweak a program in violation of the established principles of any given approach.

Last year I gained 30 lbs. I ran CT’s Simple Guaranteed Strength & Size from March to June. I took a break and messed around with conditioning stuff in July and ran SGSS again in the fall.

I made great progress with SGSS and hit personal bests of:

Bench 305 x 1
Squat 370 (I know, I suck)
Deadlift 545
RFESS 225 x 1 (easy)

The program worked great; however, my physique adapted accordingly. I was hoping for more upper body growth but my legs and ass grew like crazy. None of my pants would fit but shirts were still hanging in there.

I say this to share my opinion that some of these strength programs might not actually get the results a person wants for hypertrophy. They get results. There’s no doubt. But it appears I need more upper body work to get what I want out of lifting.

The thing is, BTM has pretty low lower body volume. You are doing 20 sets of presses, 125 chins, 100 shrugs 100 curls and 200 dips on the final week, which also has you doing a whopping 9 sets of squats.

Not going to lie… was kinda disappointing that the thread posted yesterday regarding the ab wheel was removed.

Considering the number of negative feeling threads last week regarding 531 for some reason. I got a good laugh when my oldest son informed me that football squad uses it at the college he attends.

I confess that upon hearing about captains of crush grippers I ordered the 2.5’s thinking I’d probably be able to close them. I can’t.

What’s wrong with ab wheels?

Nothing wrong with the ab wheel. The poster had a spam feel to them. Which obviously the mod felt the same.

Since the OP and spammer was female, I was going to make a purposefully sexist remark about women being naturally predisposed to using ab wheels just to troll her but I somehow managed to restrain myself.

(Shut up SJWs. It’s a fucking joke,)

I have the feeling most SJWs don’t last long on this site. You’re among friends here.

I’m a very liberal person, and a strong proponent of social justice, but even I think some of the stuff going on is f’ing ridiculous. Social justice and social media don’t mix well, you end up with too much of a mob mentality. Maybe it’s a pendulum swing overreaction to Trumpism?

Confession: I really want to use the phrase, “You don’t want this smoke.” in the proper context, ha.
