Wars DO count. But this administration has sped up the pace of spending far, FAR beyond what GW was into…which was stupid in the first place. The wars are a drop in the bucket at these new record levels, and I for one do not like it at all.
Oh, and they haven’t stopped the wars that GW started. Oh, and they’re working on pushing even more assets into the AfPak region…which will cost still more money.

It is actually both parties screwing us…more accurate would be to just admit that we have a one party system because elections are frequently democrat vs democrat-lite.

Patmac…you can recognize a conservative in the gym by looking at him? Oh, that must be because he’s actually doing work and broke a sweat. You’d never see a liberal in the gym, they’d complain till the government came up with a system to give them 17" biceps from their neighbors curls.
All government accounting is shortsighted. they are only looking 2-4 years in the future. if they had term limits they would fear returning to the private sector (or entering it for the first time) and not impose detrimental, needless, and unconstitutional regulations.
they would fear bieng part of a government run healthcare system upon leaving office and losing their cadillac plan provided to them, and not impose it on us.

And anyone supporting an iq test for voting has no concept of liberty…ironic that their name would be the same as papers written by the author of our constitution.

This has been building for decades. Spending was built into the system by both parties. I think of Obama as the final culmination of these ideas.
So long as people can vote, they will abuse the privilege by installing a powerful government, whose missio is to get them free stuff (health care, retirement, and so forth).
We are doomed by our ideas.

Voting should be done by education or service to country.
No high school diploma: vote = 0 (they can’t vote)
High school diploma: vote = 1
Bachelor’s: vote = 2
Military: vote = 3
Master’s: vote = 5
Doctoral: vote = 10
This could be made even saner by requiring (1) own property and/or (2) 30 years old or higher
except for military. All military can vote. Military (active duty) should have each vote = 25. (Anyone who risks their life for me gets to have their vote count for A LOT.)
