I want to use a mace because they have higher damage than swords and axes, but right now I am using a skyforge steel axe because the “greatest blacksmith in Skyrim” apparently doesn’t know how to make skyforge maces.
I have the Molag Bal mace and like it for killing anything that will fight me.
I have a problem when it is a mage using magic or a dragon. Need the ranged attacks of spell casting for those situations I think. When mages run from me it looks like an old cartoon where I just chase them around swinging my mace for 5 minutes. And not having a ranged weapon for dragons means I stand on the ground and get lit on fire until the dragon is kind enough to land and let me hit him.
I know how you feel, I use the shouts instead of magic. To combat mages running away from you or stopping them from unleashing a ton of spells on you use the force push shout, even the smallest one will stagger them and allow you to close the gap to introduce them to a world of pain. But it does suck having to fight dragons without magic, I rely on my shield giving me 50% resistance to elements (perk tree) in order to wait them out until the land.

Psshhh 50000+ here, split between brothers, but thats a different thread topic though ;)
i hate trophies and anything related.
They just take away from the gaming experience to make you get addicted on a skinner-box like scheme.
Going to have to disagree with you there, i think the “achievements” just give you more to do in the game, a lot of times some of them prove quite challenging. Not saying when ever i play a game all i am fixated on is getting achievements, its just something else to do.
Not when it’s stuff that’s not constructive and fun like poke your knife on the giant’s butt 1000 times.
My guy is the sneakiest ever. Lol. I can stealth hit people from in front sometimes, sneak is like 90, all sneak perks bought, using the dark brotherhood gear, so when i sneak attack with my dagger, it does 30x damage. Purposely not doing a lot of the main quest line, just to stretch it out.
I choose imperial for a reason I can’t remember. Thinking I will be a dark elf or high elf and start another character when I get board. Going to be a sneaky-mage next go round.
Does the cat night vision work worth a sh*t or is useless?

Using a Redguard cos they have good one handed and blocking skills and I like the axe shield combo. Enjoying it but I prefer sneaky characters, gonna go with Khajjit or Dark Elf next.
^^ I made an Imperial and an Orc. The Imperials power kind of sucks, I only used it one time so I could steal some documents out of a house. But they do find a lot more gold, I’d say like 50% more gold every time you find it in chests, bodies etc.
The Orc is weak to fire which sucks against dragons early on, but I got 50% resist from my shield now so I’m all set. The Berserker power is instant win for any fight, but you can only use it once per day so pretty much once per dungeon.
If you are using a mace, i think it would do you good to get the daedric artifact that is a mace from a quest in morthal. I just got it and it’s pretty sweet. Needs to be recharged somewhat frequently though.

I’m a Level 20 Breton, using mostly 2 handed weapons and some magic for range. Currently got an enchanted Dwarven Warhammer as my primary.
Trying to complete side missions takes forever, every time I finish one, another 3 pop up.
Still, amazing game so far. I’ve pretty much dropped Saints 3 and MW3 in my spare time for this.
Anyway, any tips on improving smithing quickly?
I told you raf! Never doubt me!
Smith a shit ton of Iron Daggers. You hear me. Iron Daggers! Light weight, easy to make, and can level you quick.

Swords are a little weaker than mace but attack faster. You can ignore armor with mace but the sword can land critical hits. I guess they both have their use.
BTW did anyone get any destruction/conjuration spell over apprentice/adept lvl? If so where did you get them?

Looking for the same as well, it would seem almost as your level in magics and character level in general increase the availability of these spells increases. Not sure about that but just a theory.
^^ On my wizard I have like level 70 destruction and the best spell I have is Fireball. I think the better your skills the higher level spells you can buy. And it seemed to me like the college of mages had new spells a little earlier than the jarl’s wizards.
I think there are some spells you can only get from quests as well. On my warrior I helped this chick clear a dungeon. I got one of those dragon priest masks from the boss and she gave me a spell that I had never seen before, Summon Flaming Familiar. It summons a flaming wolf that runs into enemies and blows up, pretty awesome.

The other day I found a badass 2 hand hammer that I would use if I played 2 hand. It’s called Longhammer and it’s orcish I believe. The “enchantment” on it makes it swing faster than other 2h weapons, which is awesome, plus you don’t have to recharge it. I can’t remember exactly where it was, but I know I was clearing dungeons north of Solitude.
