fucking best movie I’ve seen in a long time.
Just caught this flick and thought it was pretty good. Expect it will keep getting better with subsequent viewings. (like Goodfellas and Casino)
The most unsettling thing about the entire movie (for me) was that I fell in love with Vera Farmiga. My life somehow seems incomplete now.
Yeah, saw the HK one a few years ago, and I was pissed when I heard they where remaking it. Then I found out who was remaking it and stopped worrying.
I found the Departed didn’t make you root for both sides like the HK one did, but I got way more into it this one. This one seemed more plausible. But that might just be because I understand American culture better than Hong Kong culture.
I have to say that I enjoyed The Departed more than Infernal Affairs.
Oh, and it is bloody in it’s depiction of violence. Don’t bring any squeamish people to see it.

I agree with you that it’s better than The Godfather and Scarface, you can also throw GoodFellas into the mix… Hard to compare to Lord of the Rings, totally different genre’s…
Definitely an awesome movie, though, one of the best i’ve ever seen.
