The Death Metal Graveyard

Argh, it should of course be Amon Amarth. Northern gods have mercy on my soul.
Here I stand, on the road with cold steel in my hand,
As he looks into my unforgiving soul, his tears begin to run…

I swore! Before my Gods!!
An Oath…Once Sealed in Blood!!

“Once Sealed in Blood” My favorite fucking song from them, hands down.

If you guys are huge Amon Amarth fans and want a great deal, I’d recommend the “Wrath of the Norsemen” 3 DVD set. I got it for around $12 (new) on Amazon, and there is a ton of live footage on there. The sound isn’t HD or anything, but some of the performances are better live than they are on the album (Thousand Years of Oppression, Death in Fire, Fate of Norns are a few examples)

I would love to see Amon Amarth sell out arenas someday. I can imagine a very elaborate stage.

I enjoy me some Black Dahlia Murder from time to time…

I had that dvd, the only negative is that it’s a bit too much much show, and they should have had more behind the scene/more band stuff rather than just 545432t43 shows on 3 dvd’s.

Decrepit Birth - Concepting the Era, while the guitar parts

Decrepit Birth- Concepting the Era, drum cam

I’m surprised no one beat me too this.

The Coffee Jingle

Let’s bring this thread back from the dead… This isn’t really true death metal, these bands blurry the line between Thrash and Death Metal

Demolition Hammer - Infectious Hospital Waste

Dark Angel - The Burning of Sodom

Maybe I missed it, but doesn’t anyone listen to Opeth? Or Nile? Two of the better “death metal” bands around, IMHO. Insomnium are also pretty good.

I use to adore Opeth, I don’t really remember why since I haven’t given Mikeal and the bunch a good listen in a year, but they’re decent. Not really heavy or really that death metal, but they have solid music. I really do like Nile, Karl Sanders is amazing at guitar, I don’t really care about lyrics since that’s more filler in death metal IMO, and you gotta focus more on the music rather than the lyrical content.

I’ve been listening to Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Decapitated and Amon Amarth lately to name a few.

Some good stuff on this thread. Keep it coming.

I use to adore Opeth a couple years ago. I don’t remember why I thought they were Godly, but hey whatever. I haven’t really listen to Mikeal and the rest of his gang, but as far as I can remember, really solid music, not so much the “Death Metal” parts, which aren’t really that Death Metal anyway, but more of their song structure as a whole is what I can vaguely remember which made me like them so much.

You are joking right? If not, I’ll add Winger, Stryper, Saigon Kick, Saxon, Poison, and Europe too.

You forgot the Nelson Brothers.
Hey man, don’t knock the old 80’s rock. lol

Can’t believe someone actually remembered Winger!

On a total random note, I finally got my costume for Halloween. I’m going to be Abbath of Immortal, and my other two friends are going to be Horgh and Apollyan

I’m all about Death metal and Grindcore. brutal truth, Nasum, Cephalic Carnage, Leng T’che etc etc.
Though I’d have to say the best band to listen to while working out is Kataklysm.

Death metal stopped being good in about 1993. I blame Cannibal Corpse, and all the monotonous pig squealing jun jun jun jun rubbish they inspired.

Clearly Scandinavian death metal from 1987-1991 beats pretty much all other death metal. Nihilist, Entombed, Dismember, Grave, Demigod, Carnage, God Macabre, Crypt of Kerberos, Funebre, Interment, Grotesque, Miasma, Gorement, Nirvana 2002, Liers In Wait, Evocation, Eucharist: all awesome bands.

I strongly disagree, while Melodic Death Metal is awesome, the more brutal side to Death Metal is just as respectable.

I toy with death metal from time to time. I used to be way more in to it than i am now.

Still, some great bands around -necrophagist to name just one. Back in the day i was all about bolt thrower though - lol - great band but a bit dated now.

Now i listen to more of
symphony X

adagio

rhapsody

Great music, crap videos.

My friend is in a death metal band. Very british but i hope you guys will like it. The whole album is on the site for free plus a few vids.

Very much so. I’m into pretty much all the sub-genres as well or just about anything that is heavy.

Awesome progressive/power metal bands man. Bolt Thrower deff. isn’t dated though, they were/are an amazing band to this day. Necrophagist is alright, I can see why everyone is nutsac crazy for them.

Pretty much all I listen to. Different variations. From Suffocation, Macabre, Mortician, Cannibal Corpse of the 90’s to Necrophagist, Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, and See You Next Tuesday today.

Also a huge Meshuggah fan (obviously), although their “death metal” status is debatable.

Who’s going as Demonaz? I thought the current line up (or at least the reunion line up) was Abbath, Demonaz, Apollyan and Horgh? I’d heard that Apollyan was added as a permanent, official member, but that could be disputed.

And oh yeah, Horgh > Armagedda (old drummer) lol

Originally this other guy was going to be, but then he pussied out on doing the corpse paint, so he’s going to be a Viking…or an emo unicorn, he hasn’t decided yet.

IDK man, I like Horgh’s drumming better, but Armagedda made me giggle.
