One God is the necessity that all contingent things rely upon. Without God we are forced to believe all existing matter came from nothing. This is as Newton said, illogical on its face. Something can’t create itself before it exists. Hence the need for an eternal necessary being.

I think humans trying to understand “god” is about as hopeless as an amoeba trying to understand humans.
Furthermore, I think trying to explain away that which we don’t understand (the beginning of all things) by saying a being we don’t understand (god/gods) willed it into existence, is ridiculous.
I’d get into a debate on religion, but 1) I don’t care about it enough to get into it and 2) I don’t think you will stay on topic (as you’ve already diverged significantly from “dating”).

Some woke people have ruined the word feminist. Twisting it to mean something different than it used to. Similar to the the word racist, where now a person to be racist must be white (this is a fringe believe that I reject). I stick to the old definitions of both words. For feminist, I think that means someone who thinks women should be treated as equals (or just that we should treat everybody as equals). By that definition, I’d say I am a feminist, and probably you too.

I think this guy lost his mind in the past year. I am married and am not into “game” or PUA stuff but I remember his early stuff put things into perspective, along with Roger Devlin’s. But as of late he has gone on three to four hours long, angry, bitter tirades.

should this not be renamed to “equalist”, if equality is being sought? Also, I’d go as far as to say that equality has been over-achieved at this point where far left states (like CA) have implemented quotas for minorities and women on CEO boards.
I’ll identify as an ‘equalist’ any day, but feminism no longer has a place in the US as equality has been commonplace for quite some time. I respect your opinion though.

No one can actually prove God exists. But human equality can be proven false simply by looking at a measly sample size of only two people.

We aren’t born equal in status, finances, genetics, or many other factors which have huge lifelong effects. But being born with equal rights is about the best we can do. We can prove equal rights (in the US), but we can’t prove equal privileges.

Redpill like MRA spaces are correct in their analysis but comprised of the most bitter and angry men on the planet. Rollo similarly shows all these issues. I knew a young lad who was proven to have been falsely accused of rape and he went through about 6 years of being really into Rollo and other red pill movements.
Recently he got married to a religious woman and had a kid. Late one night he said how glad he was he got out of those online spaces when he did and how lots of the guys in there were like he was, guys with trauma really struggling mentally.
Rollo is kinda like Karl Marx. Great descriptive stuff, absolutely terrible proscriptive stuff. I saw him on one of those YouTube clip videos recently and yeah he seems like a bitter guy.

Another study came to the conclusion the “one drink a day keeps the doctor away” rhetoric is also bullshit. Every singular standsrd drink one has per week seems to correlate with an increased risk for various cancers, heart disease etc.
Like big tobacco, alcohol has corporate funded research. For whatever reason alcohol companies are still allowed to advertise their poison to the masses. Huge double standard when ciggies are 50$ for 20 in Aus, in plain packaging, no advertising and Aus being the nanny state it is wants to pursue a total ban on both e cigarettes and tobacco.
However our policies have led to the creation of a massive black market.
With all of this being said and done there is an acceptable level of risk. Think of it like a bell curve. So while having say two beers a week may be riskier than having zero, the long term repercussions are likely to amount to say… taking 6 months off of your lifespan.
Getting tipsy or even drunk once or twice a year isn’t going to kill you either. People like to justify their vices because hedonism is pleasurable. Ive always been of the opinion alcohol is terrible, but a few drinks every now and then or even a puff of ganja once in a blue moon probably isn’t the worst thing in the world. Enables you to cool off and destress from work, responsibilities etc.
There are people who should never drink as they become violent and unhinged. Generally speaking catching a buzz on special occasions might not be good for you, but if done seldomly to relax it can actually help someone avoid burnout.

Actually my mother had her pay cut quite significantly at one point because she was a woman. No childcare or whatever. Just a total fucking asshole of a boss who didn’t like women having senior positions in corporate. He made her life miserable.
This is what I tend to believe too. Median IQ of men and women are the same, however box plot is narrower for women. There are more women of average intelligence than there are men.

I started typing a response late last night but thought I’d leave it to the morning. Didn’t expect this thread to move about so much!
Even whilst calling myself left-leaning, it doesn’t mean that all my views on everything need to be that way. In the UK I see far too many people supporting blue or red as if it were a sports team, loyal to the death and they let their opinions be swayed entirely by what they identify themselves as. I try to be more fluid than that. I could get into certain reasons why I consider myself left, but it is perhaps another discussion for another day, in another thread.
I still occasionally have a piss up but alcohol is and always has been a massive scam.
That’s fair, I don’t think it takes away from them interfering with the nature of our species, our instincts, or the effects on dating/society though.
I don’t know how this all got onto God but i’m of the “the universe may have a plan, we are only human, not ours to understand”. All any of us can really ever do is preach doubt, anything else is just silly to me.

I’m not even talking about the cost or buying it. The whole culture and acceptance around it is just bonkers. Many people will have a glass of wine each night whilst looking down on any other kind of drug user. We don’t treat alcohol with the power of caution that it deserves because it’s so normalized. Everything alcohol apparently gives to you actually takes away, there’s that great quote about it “borrowing happiness from tomorrow”.
Yeah let loose now and again, social lubricant and all that, but people don’t respect it as that and are in a vicious cycle of drinking multiple days a week, possible binge drinking on the weekend and there’s not a lot bad to be said about it and as you say, still gets advertised and glorified. Health and lives get ruined with it more than any other drug, BUT, to link it back to dating… it does help ugly people get laid.

There are MANY more of these. The data is actually quite sound. Hence why I believe there is a LOT of ignorance surrounding this topic. Drinkng to excess should be stigmatised. There’s a common misconception one can only take illicit drugs to get fucked up, but the concept of microdosing is just as prevalent with most of these substances as it is with ethtyl alcohol
My arguement against use is… it’s garbage, very little redeeming value from any of this. Psychedelics are the only drugs I’ve ever gotten anything out of, and not from a spirtual perspective… the biggest problem with drug use is the nature of circumventing social norms. Why is one willing to push against the status quo? If its because they’re educated on the matter and have come to the same conclusion I did which was “hey, alcohol in the manner kids drink it is actually worse… so why not…” Keep in mind I was very depressed at the time and wanted a means to escape. This is not quite as bad as “fuck authority, I’m going to behave horribly!”
There were many trials in the 1950s-60s pertaining to the use of serotonergic psychedelics to treat PTSD, major depressive disorder etc. Nixon administration shelved a ton of the research (LSD was over the counter for a while). I haven’t taken anything like that in a looooonnnnnnng time and likely won’t while it’s still illegal here. But when Austrlaia finally catches up and starts using them to treat major depression I’ll opt for guided use with psychiatrists over SSRI/SNRI. I say this because on the few occasions I did try them it was like my deoressive symptoms substantially decreased for 2-3 MONTHS post use.
My anecdote lines up with the literature currently availabile. Also once had a ketamine infusion for chronic pain… depression gone for four months. K is used to treat resistant depression in USA but not Aus yet. Its VERY effective, various companies are making a fortune from it.
The stigma of “isn’t that a DRUG!” Needs to be dropped. There’s a huge difference between a controlled infusion at a low dose vs racking lines on the back of your phone.
Anyone who can’t see this, or dismisses therapeutic potential on the basis of “it has been abused” is extremely close minded. Morphine has therapeutic potential, as does heroin in countries like the UK (for intractable chronic pain, analgesia post c section etc).
If I had to choose between one of those admittedly unpleasant infusions twice per year or having to take LSD under a psychiatrists guidance 2-3 times per year and actually never having to deal with depressive symptomatology again all the while being able to go off antidepressant drugs that screw with my libido which avenue do you think i’d rather opt for?
As to those who think cannabis is harmless… lol… cannabis never makes the bottom of that list, it can be very problematic when abused.

Why do I feel you are arguing against me even though that was what I was getting at, just not extrapolating it as you have? You are clearly quite passionate about this stuff. That’s not a criticism, I feel the same way even as an occasional drinker.
You may have already watched it but there’s a recent Netflix documentary or series about what you’re discussing. “How to Change Your Mind” I think it’s called. I haven’t had the chance to watch it yet myself yet but you should give it a look if you haven’t already.
Like with anything, the problem is always abuse. I even believe moderation of alcohol can add to your life and enhance connections leading to an overall more positive well-being. The complication is people rarely stop at just the occasional 2 or 3. It is embedded everywhere. To mimic a post I wrote here a few months ago, Sad? Have a drink. Happy? Have a drink? Someones died? Have a drink? Someones birthday? Have a drink. A wedding? Have a drink. A friend down for the weekend? Have a drink. Stressful day at work? Have a drink. It’s the weekend? Have a drink? It’s sunny outside? Have a drink. It’s Christmas? Have a drink? Going bowling? Have a drink? Watching a film? Have a drink. Out for a meal? Have a drink. On a date? Have a drink. Someone else is having a drink? May as well have a drink!
People attribute it to just about any situation possible and it’s nothing but a result of conditioning. A large portion of society are borderline functioning alcoholics and they aren’t even considered to have a problem by society or themselves because “I don’t drink spirits, I don’t day drink, I know my limits, I don’t cause trouble, I don’t drink as much as that guy etc”.
