The Dark Knight Rises

most of the negative reviews are just whining about how long the movie is or how they hate the fight scenes

Threads like these are never fun for us moderators.

(Guess who will be reading all of your spoilers in real time on Friday night?)

Solution: Midnight screening.

You street-smartin’ son of a gun.

I could have been living spoiler-free since 2005.

It takes time for a movie to settle on a true rating. At this point it’s a running battle between fanboys and trolls. It’s not on general release yet and most of the voters likely haven’t seen it.

Like escalation: fanboy votes 10, troll votes 0.

I know still would not be a cool thing for myself. I enjoy movies, so I could not do the mod thing. Your a good soul sir.

Damn I really hope it’s not a struggle to understand Bane. That would be really irritating.[/quote]

I don’t think that the author of that review enjoyed any of the previous installments.

Best thing about watching Hollywood films as a foreigner is that I have access to all the subtitles I’ll ever need. Hah bring your worst Tom!

How come only DC can make movies that don’t suck shit? If Marvel could make a movie half as good as the Dark Knight I’d be sooooooooooooooooooooooooo terribly happy like a school girl on speed.

inb4 Superman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin.

Let’s see what we’ll get with Man of Steel.

I’ll admit that DC has had it’s fair share of stinkers, but they also have a stable of excellent films where Marvel has…nothing. The first Punisher movie was good but I was never into the Punisher comics.

Apparently that author gave the Katy Perry movie 4 stars.

His opinion is no longer valid to me.

its not really marvels fault they sold the rights to major characters to companies like sony (spiderman) and fox (xmen), the movies produced by marvel studios like iron man and the avengers have been good

this is incredibly true for all nolan movies

and marvel is over rated

I enjoyed the fuck out of avengers first time I saw it but cpt america and amazing spiderman were awful incoherent messes whilst thor and iron man 2 were mediocre

I thought he’d be a journeyman reviewer.

He singles it out for being humorless, but goes on to say that “as with all recent Batman films, the tone is humourless”… yeah? Rent a comedy then. Better yet, go and see how comic relief has brought down many potentially good films…

The Tale of Two Cities references were deliberate, not coincidental.

I thought the Avengers was overrated to hell. In all honesty it was full of bullshit, and not just bullshit as in reality, but bullshit according to the story’s OWN logic itself, which pisses me off. Ok, I accept that we have a God, a patriotic juicer, a conceited genius in an exoskeleton and a colossal stress ball in one team. Still even with this team, am I the only one who thought that these 4 guys laying waste against a fucking ARMY of aliens with technology sufficient enough to cross interstellar distances like nothing a bit ridiculous? The “elite” army fights as if they’re a bunch of thugs from down the alley and are physically weaker than the skinny 5x5 internet warriors. NOT traits I’d expect from the elite (re: the selected best among all others) of an interstellar civilization. And Iron Man, after having fallen from the exosphere, not becoming a fireball or becoming Stark juice beneath his armor after Hulk reduces his velocity instantaneously to zero (Hello Newton)? Please.

I think the first Iron Man made the most sense within itself. That’s a big part of why it was the most successful Avenger movie to date. And an awesome thing with the Dark Knight series is that EVERYTHING makes sense in the established rules of the universe (correct me if I’m exaggerating). I hope the trend continues with TDKR and the Man of Steel (which apparently is going to be TDK for superman).

Sony made The Amazing Spider-Man, Thor was far better than it seemed to be, movie Cap America was a virgin nerd who gained superpowers, got frozen for decades and woke up as even more of a greenhorn than he started. That’ll change.

No defense for IM2. Robot army…
