I give it an 8/10 for the joker’s performance and the tires on that bat-bike.

But one of the other posters said it is possible.
I stopped reading at page 5.

But no, it’s impossible. Well, unless you have physical access to the phones to modify the hardware (e.g: the phone lucius left at the lobby in China). I mean, this is like saying the guy reprogrammed Jeep to fly or sail. It can’t be done, period.

Assuming the guy has a monopoly on cell-phones in Chica…errr, Gotham City, only solves the issue of allowing him to remotely change the software. But he simply can’t make it do what it lacks the physical capability to do.

On a side note, the FBI can and does spy on people with cellphones[1] by activating their microphones. But a mic is built into the phone. That is, it has a dedicated circuitry to convert sound waves into bits of data. But it doesn’t have what would enable it to act as a sonar.

What movie(s) would you rate 9 or 10 out of 10, then?

I’m sincerely curious.
I believe the last movie to get a 10 from me was The Departed.

And since you seem interested, if I had to make a top five of all times, I’d go with Miller’s crossing, Casablanca, The Godfather II, The Seven Samurai and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Keep in mind that Batman didn’t open yet in Sweden. I cave in to the hype and downloaded a cam release. So, who knows what score I’ll give it once I see the real deal on a big screen.

Fucking whore.

Slut.

Stealer! They’re never going to make any money off the movie now.

As to villains for the next film:

Catwoman has to make an appearance, but she isn’t dangerous enough to be the main antagonist. You can’t really go from “I’m going to watch the world burn” to “I’m going to steal that pretty necklace” when your theme is “escalation.”

HALLE BERRY as Catwoman! Please.
Well, yes, that would be a terrible act of violence, but directed toward the audience, not the people of Gotham.

The other poster is deeply, deeply wrong. That part was strait out of the “C:\ hack pentagon” school of movie technology.

SODAR, which is the in-the-air version of SONAR, works by emitting a known frequency, traveling at a known speed, and then listening for it to bounce back. Because they know what they’re listening for, they recognize it when it gets back to them, and because they know how fast it’s going, they can tell how far away the thing it bounced off of was from the emiter. If they bounce two signals off of it, they can also calculate direction and speed. It isn’t passive, it’s active. It does not work by saying “gee, it sure sounds like a plane over that way.”

I suppose you could add some sort of emitter/receiver to a cell phone, making it a SODAR, but you could add it to a toaster, too.

A more realistic plot point would have been for Batman to activate all of the cell phone in Gotham, and feed that into a voice recognition program. That is already (sort of) feasible, even with the cell phones already out there.

The Joker walking out in the nurse’s uniform has to be one of the funniest and at the same time, cringe-inducing things I’ve seen since the last scene in There Will Be Blood.

It’s always nice when an artist does the definitive version of something, and I think Chris Nolan and Heath Ledger’s Joker will stand as THE bar for screen villainy for some time.

Also, I truly enjoyed the multiple stories about the scars.

Then I hope you did your homework and watched Infernal Affairs (first one) at some point. Even the director of The Departed, upon receiving an Academy Award, said the plot was based off the Chinese film.

Because honestly, Infernal Affairs was a better flick. And yes, I did think The Departed was good.

I thought Wall-E was incredibly well done, Horton Hears a Who was SEVERELY underrated (I’m a huge Seuss fan) and Iron Man set a standard for comic book films; he was also one of my favorite comic book heroes.

Oh yeah, Joker was a sick villain. I mean that in every sense of the word.

He wasn’t scary or gruesome but disturbing - just right for his character. Wicked acting right there.

As far as the “You know where I got these scars from?” think I wouldnt have minded if he had set up a third one, like “When I was in high school, a buddy of mine…” and then got cut off so you knew he was gong to make some more bull shit up.

Saw it again tonight IMAX style, easiest movie to sit through a 2nd time in my life.

I donâ¿¿t know how many of you have seen this but it looks like DC is making moves. They are coming out with a create-your-own Super Hero MMO, Kinda like City of Heros/Villans, but you get to fight along side your favorite DC Super Hero or Super Villain. Looks cool enough and the best part is its only for PC and PS3…SUCK ONE XBOX!!! Now if they can only figure out how to sell their comics

The game is still pre-Alpha so it has along way to go b4 it is released. But Jim Lee, for those who follow the comics, himself did most if not all the conceptual art for the game. But well just have to wait and see

Oh come ON! That isn’t a fair shake at all. That’s like judging a roller coaster from watching the video tape that someone took while they rode it. Well, not really, but whatever.

You need to see it in the theater. Preferably an IMAX. Do they have one of those near you in Sweden?

Agreed on The Departed, it was excellent. I actually thought “The Prestige”, from the same year, was better though.

Agreed. I thought the Departed was slow and boring. Good acting, slow ass uninteresting writing.

Prestige was awesome!

Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, it WOULD happen with a little twist, so I was surprised at every turn.

Highly underrated movie.

X,

You watch City of God yet?

Not yet, but I will. I am focusing on seeing Batman again before worry about anything else. Hopefully I can find a seat where my next door neighbors don’t scream to each other during every other scene.

I saw Dark Knight again last night; it’s almost better the second time around.

jpb

I saw this Wednesday night and I really enjoyed it. Overall it was entertaining, but the ending was a bit lacking in my opinion. I thought Heath Ledger’s performance was on par if not better than Jack Nicholson’s performance in the earlier version.

I must admit the voice comments for Christian Bale do bother me. He struggles to maintain the rugged deep based rasp in his voice, but his portrayal of Bruce Wayne is spot on. He has that quiet strength about him that others like Michael Keaton, George Clooney, and Val Kilmer lacked. Perhaps its his younger more T-Nation-esqe type of persona that I can relate to more that gets me. One for any notable DVD collection.

Haha. It seems I am the only person in the world to have liked that movie. Or maybe… it was Halle Berry in leather. I don’t know.

I agree on The Prestige as well. Can I just take another second to say how awesome I think Christopher Nolan is? He’s directed the following:

The Dark Knight
The Prestige
Batman Begins
Insomnia (I didn’t like this one that much though)
Memento

Pretty good list right there.
