I can totally get behind that
Challenge complete, getting back to the apartment after was a challenge.
Alright, go 2 for this month. First one has a cute name, second one is just brutal.
This is “Xeno walks through Juarez Valley with the Devil and leaves behind a widow”
You will take 12 deep breaths between all sets
Take a weight you can squat for 8 reps.
Go 1x8, 1x4, 1x2, 1x1 (so half as many reps as previous set)
Strip 25lbs per side
Now it’s Juarez valley ala Josh Bryant, so 1x8, 1x1, 1x7, 1x2, 1x6, 1x3, 1x5, 1x4
Take off a 45lb plate per side and throw on a 25, do 3x6 (Get it?! 666)
Take off that 25 and go for max reps
The other workout is a stripset from hell. I did this with high handle trap bars. Go for 10, take off a 45 per side, 10, 45 per side, 10, 45 per side, 10, 45 per side and max reps. I hit 101. Will try to beat that sometime.
I reckon I could bench an empty bar for 500 in about 6 mins…I’ll probably try next week at some point.
Also, I’ve just started doing squat thrusters supersetted with lat pull downs and rows continuously and am thinking I might make this my new full body conditioning challenge/w/o for a while.
For the first two legs, is there an amount of time I’m allowed to suck wind in between sets?
As long as 12 deep breaths takes you.
I now see that was clearly explained originally
No worries man: maybe your brain just didn’t want to see it, haha.
So - just to get this right:
Take my 8rm
Say 160kg.
8 reps - 12 deep breaths - 4 reps - 12 deep breaths - 2 reps - 12 deep breaths - 1 reps.
Then take 25lb (12.5kg) off each side - so 135kg for:
8, 1 , 7 , 2, 6 , 3 , 4 , 5.
Then another 20lb (10kg) - so 115kg and do:
6,6,6
That’s pretty “hellish”
I did @T3hPwnisher challenge last month. It was brutal.
@T3hPwnisher thanks for sharing two new ones. Might have time to tackle the first this month (have a minor strain that I’m playing things safe with). The second one I could only mimic (would have to use smaller plates). And go to another gym to have access to a trap-bar.
I wouldn’t use a 8rm. I’d take something that is a challenging set of 8 but not a max.
But keep in mind: my notion of what a max is may be different than your own.
And don’t forget the widowmaker set at the end!
You could always do car deadlift simulator instead, if you want neutral handles.
Need 2 landmines, or just a corner to shove 2 barbells into. Great set-up for strip sets.
If I ever start making my own home gym I’m reading all your posts for ideas. My main gym has landmines attached to the rack and there’s not a single corner that’s not blocked by machines or racks or dumbbells. But fortunately I have two gym cards…
Way I used to do it before I got the landmines was set the barbells inside a power rack and put a dumbbell on the end of each bar to anchor it down. It works well. This was honestly one of my favorite supplemental exercises for deads: only stopped doing them due to set-up time. Now that I have a really well built trap bar, I’m too lazy to go back, haha.
Now that I can make work, Holy smokes @T3hPwnisher (see, didn’t call you Batman)
Just tried benching 20kgs for 500 reps…got to about 350 in just under 3 minutes and stopped…I reckon if when I next re-attempt this if I break up my reps into sets of 50 with about 10 secs rest in between this should be much more doable (I did this first 200 reps with virtually no rest…big mistake!!!).
Solid effort considering that Vigneault did 500 in 11 minutes!
Still playing it safe for the remainder of the month but will revisit as soon as I’m able. Keen on that 666!
