“Far too many body-builders devote too much time to exercising the arms and then wonder why they don’t make good gains. I prefer to devote the majority of my training time to such weight and strength gaining exercises as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and overhead presses and other variations of these movements.”

There. It was said in the '50’s, now why haven’t most people learned?

Most will agree these guys from the 40’s/50’s/60’s look awesome and that’s what most of us strive to achieve. I think the best all-time physiques were from the 60’s (Sipes/Scott/Pearl etc…). These guys, for the most part, did nothing but D-Bol. Yet I find it interesting that you inquire about doing only D-Bol on any forum, including here, and you get tied to your horse and run out of town. What gives?

Another from that era…

That’s Don Howarth above right? Here’s another great pic. It’s Leo Roberts

Well, if the pic of the guys above was taken in the 40’s - then indeed they were natural.

I believe that the first time roids were used to improve athletic performance was sometime during the mid-50s[/quote]

I could totally be wrong on this, but it looks like Sean Connery (I’m not sure how the “Sir” works in the past tense) on the right. If that’s the case, he and Reeve’s placed in the top three in the 1950 Mr. Universe. It’s kind of irrelevant either way, Dr. Zeigler didn’t “kick off” steroid research in humans until the mid-50s and didn’t start Dbol/Bodybuilder research until the 1959. Well into the Bill Pearl era. Reeves was definitely natural (and THE man).

Connery was the 1953 Scottish entrant for Mr.Universe, and finished 3rd in the tall category.

Really.
