The Carter III

BTW help ya boy out and actually buy the album when it comes out, don’t just bootleg his shit.

Maybe we can get him to double platinum. If he goes double platinum then his whole career as a solo artist will match what 50 Cent did with just Tha Massacre.

If he goes 3x platinum on Carter III then his whole career will match what 50 did with just Get Rich.

If he goes 3x platinum on Carter III he will have sold half as many albums as 2Pac did with just his greatest hits album, or BIG did with just Life After Death.

1 album from these cats = multiple Lil Wayne careers!

too match what get rich or die trying did he’d have to get 10x, think before you speak, fact is he hasnt had that much of an impact on the game, he hasnt brought anything new to the table, hasnt influence hip hop in a major way like the people i named, he hasnt got the influence in music that anyone i mentioned has had

as i’ve said multiple times in this thread i preordered the carter 3 in feb. people just need to think before they speak. Wayne aint no where near the best rapper alive, he is just a flavour of the month at the moment. this album didnt deliver what needed to be delivered for him to be considered in the elite echelon of rappers or emcee’s

no point arguing on this anymore, its a simple point yeh he’s a good rapper even though he’s hit or miss, he has delivered alot of material since before the carter 1. he has released 2 great albums the carter 1 and 2, too solidify his spot as the greatest rapper alive he didn’t deliver on this album. he simply isnt skilled enough emcee, the carter 3 is a good album but he needed to deliver something like illmatic, ready too die, ATLiens or Welcome to the 36 chambers type album, which he DID NOT BRING. Maybe if he didnt release a new mixtape every week he could have brought something classic but he didnt

end thread…honestly any person with any grasp of hiphop music
will hold pretty much the same opinion as i stated in the last paragraph. Im done arguing a simple point.

Why are some of you trying to use popularity as a measure of quality? That’s like saying NO Xplode is awesome because everyone buys it, brah!

you seem to be missing the point that im talking about present tense. like i said right now hes the hottest out and is the biggest name out right now. NO ONE is talking about snoop, dre, or fucking eminem? lmfao. they arent nothing right now, 5 years ago yea, but today? no way baby. and who cares if your mom knows someones name, what does that mean? i know who Elvis, i know who The Beatles are does that mean theyre hot right now? does that mean they have a huge following right now? no, it just means i know who they are.

lets keep in mind this dude has only been real big for what? 2 or 3 years? Carter was fire, really underrated, he still wasnt
“big” when that came out. then Carter 2 comes out and he starts poppin up on all the R&B songs and its like ok this guy is making a name for himself, hes starting to pop up more and more. Then he starts putting out 9,000 mixtapes and hes on everyones song, like you dont have a hit song unless you got him on it and if you do have him on it its not your song anymore. thats where waynes at right now, give him a couple more years and watch.

…how can you even say hes not known worldwide when theres a dude from australia on here talkin about him too?

liking the guy is purely opinion, you cant really argue it. his fame and popularity? thats just a fact and you cant hide it, for fucks sake he won man of the year, this supposed unheard of guy got man of the year, beat everybody on the planet but he aint shit. im still laughing about the dr dre, snoop, and eminem thing.

You said biggest name “ever”, not present tense. Yes, he is very hot right now, but the “ever” part is not even debatable. All of those artists mentioned, including BIG, 2Pac, 50, Dre, Snoop, Em have all dropped individual albums that have sold more records than Wayne has in his entire solo career. Lil Wayne goes on tour in clubs. 50 Cent (as weak as his ass is) is the only rap star that can consistently fill out stadiums worldwide as a solo artist.

I think you’re trippin off of how many mixtapes and features dude has done and not off of actual numbers. Like you said give him a few years. Let’s see if Carter III pops off and where he goes from there but he isn’t the biggest name in hip-hop ever just yet.

What is this “man of the year” you keep talking about? Did all the citizens of the planet get together and vote on “man of the year” or is this some magazine award or something? Show us what you’re talking about.[/quote]

exactly man, 50 cent is still living off his hype from 2 years ago and he may be a household name but he isnt shit. hes just a name everyone knows. like i said just because people know your name doesnt mean anything. everyone knows who eminem is, but if he had a tour this guy wouldnt sell any fucking shows. according to you weezy isnt as well known but if he puts out a tour bet your ass everyone is going. so call it what you want but one of em is still gettin money and fame and one is washed up.

and yes, everyone got together and voted for man of the year, you didnt get the ballot?

scarface - this guy is the god of south, t.i might be king but everyone respects and bow’s down to face. he still proved that he can put togethor a great-classic album after being in the game for so long, with not only an incredibly solid solo effort he can still put it togethor with a group, the ghetto boys. favourite songs by scarface are now i feel you, smile, the hand of a dead body, man cry, girl you know, never, my mind playing tricks on me and my mind playing tricks on me 94

z-ro - this will be a controversial one in my list but he is a rapper who can still rap and sing within in the same bar and it still sounds hot unlike weezy who shouldnt be allowed to sing because he sounds like he’s crying with a runny nose. i know alot of the times when on this board im on this guys nutsack but he has produced an incredible amount of material thats pretty good and talk’s about real things he isnt all about i’ve got million and millions of dollars and my group are the hardest drug dealers out there and we’ve made it,

he talks about how he’s trying to get money, how he cant hold down a job and how his friends treat him, also when he gets on tracks with his cousin trae you know your going to have some classic material. Also he has a massive following down south and he even had 50 shook when he was in Houston. favourite tracks are look what you did to me, guerilla till i die, speak on it, one deep, T.H.U.G, platinum, tell me what you see, i miss my dawgs, let me live my life

Face and Z-ro are 2 of my favorite rappers

300+ songs a year does not equate to quality. For some reason it just doesn’t.

I’ll say it again since you stole it from me.

You’re from Massachusetts. What do you know about hip hop?

“We never voted, we votin’ for Oprah, Obama, and Eric B.”

If you know what that is from then I might consider your opinion on hip hop.
