Lil Wayne is overrated. Without Gillie’s flow he’s shit.

He’s good, but people are treating him like the second coming of Pac or Biggie. It’s ridiculous.

He produces such a sheer amount of songs that some of them are bound to be good. /shrug/

It was leaked. He had an interview where he said ‘fuck mixtape djs’ so a mixtape dj leaked his shit.

Completely agree with him being overrated…he’s 90% trash, but he makes so many tracks a few are bound to be good. Plus the fake father thing he has with birdman is weird…They’re both garbage though.

Story about DJ who leaked his shit:

Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive.

are you shitting me? He’s barely even rap. His flow is GARBAGE . Absolute garbage, his rhymes are awful and corny. He just has hot beats so everyone listens to his shit and nods their heads…

Shit lyrics, good beat & a dope hook…that’s dipset. Wayne ain’t even that. I don’t think you know a thing about rap if you think he’s the best rapper alive. I could probably name 50 people off the top of my head who have a tighter flow and better rhymes. [/quote]

name at least five and give me their “dope rhymes.” also tell me who’s rolling in more cake and someone with a bigger following. Lil wayne’s flow is garbage, give me a fucking break.

money =/= good flow. Out of every hood i’ve ever been in or through I’ve NEVER heard anyone with a lil wayne track playing EVER at any point.

here’s a few better than him off the top of my head.

Jada. Go listen to dblock/dipset checkmate, Why, or virtually anything from him

Nas. Listen to I Am, God’s Son, Hip Hop is Dead, Illmatic

Lupe Fiasco. Virtually every track he’s on is dope. Listen to ‘the coolest’ or ‘dumb it down’

Crooked I (if you’ve even heard of him) listen to Burner in My lap.

Lloyd banks. I don’t even like g-unit but he’s still ill. Go to hiphopdx and listen to top 5, or his 2004 warmup freestyle from a few years back

Joell Ortiz is a beast on most of the tracks he appears on.

T.I. listen to ‘No Matter What’

Ludacris: he’s got better punchlines.

Lil Wayne is clown pop music over a rap beat. Hell I’m tempted to put The Game on a list of people better than him. I get the feeling you’re not old enough to have heard much rap music. You probably like whatever top 40 shit they play on hot 97. People are on wayne’s dick because he appeals to southern white girls and suburban whites that want to sound hard without knowing anything about actual rap music. Wayne’s got the simplest rhyming style this side of 50 cent.

Haha, I know my rap. I go to to the hood plenty enough to know what my boys listen to. Lloyd and Jada are garbage. T.I. is decent. Nas and Lupe are good, but not better. I’m still waiting for a legit list.

are you shitting me??? jada is garbage? are you nuts? you ACTUALLY think ANYTHING wayne has done stacks up to illmatic, god’s son, I am, hip hop is dead?

That list is completely legit, you have no idea what you’re talking about. Here’s a shorter list. Rappers worse than Wayne: 50 cent, yin yang twins, Mike Jones. Yeah that’s about it.

Wayne is for wiggers that want to sound like they know what they’re talking about. He’s off beat as fuck 90% of the time, his lyrics are childish trash, and corny as hell.

umm are you fucking kidding me jada and nas arent better than lil wayne? ok lupe is debatable but i’ve only heard his albums not his mixtapes and his stuff seems to have substance and has potential too have a massive andre 3000 like following, agreed on lloyd banks though as he is garbage

legit list

jay-z - do i even need to bother writing down songs? the fact lil wayne is constantly on jay-z’s nut sack should be enough for you, however ill list a couple of favourite - lucky me, beach chair, regrets, can i live, feeling it and of course dead presidents and black out

andre 3000 - go listen too outkast’s first three albums all classics, if you cant be bothered just listen to ugk’s - international players anthem and the art of story telling part 4

beanie sigel - you can actually feel the emotion he’s trying to portray on tracks favourite songs are where did you go? still got love for you, dear self, mums praying, tales of a hustler pt 1 and 2, feel it in the air, whats your life like pt 1 and 2

scarface - this guy is the god of south, t.i might be king but everyone respects and bow’s down to face. he still proved that he can put togethor a great-classic album after being in the game for so long, with not only an incredibly solid solo effort he can still put it togethor with a group, the ghetto boys. favourite songs by scarface are now i feel you, smile, the hand of a dead body, man cry, girl you know, never, my mind playing tricks on me and my mind playing tricks on me 94

z-ro - this will be a controversial one in my list but he is a rapper who can still rap and sing within in the same bar and it still sounds hot unlike weezy who shouldnt be allowed to sing because he sounds like he’s crying with a runny nose. i know alot of the times when on this board im on this guys nutsack but he has produced an incredible amount of material thats pretty good and talk’s about real things he isnt all about i’ve got million and millions of dollars and my group are the hardest drug dealers out there and we’ve made it,

he talks about how he’s trying to get money, how he cant hold down a job and how his friends treat him, also when he gets on tracks with his cousin trae you know your going to have some classic material. Also he has a massive following down south and he even had 50 shook when he was in Houston. favourite tracks are look what you did to me, guerilla till i die, speak on it, one deep, T.H.U.G, platinum, tell me what you see, i miss my dawgs, let me live my life

wu-tang clan - even after the death of ODB when the group reformed like voltron it got everyone to take notice, you have members who have consistently dropped sick albums throughout a career over a decade long for example ghostface killah and gza. Even though there last album wasnt there best it still had some incredibly good songs on there, each member has managed to drop atleast one classic album while members like ghostface have arguably released multiple classic albums.

there influence in the game is undeniable and if you havent taken the time to check out their catalogue your opinions on rap arent valid in the slightest favourite tracks are triumph, when the heart gently weeps, life changes, the whole 36 chambers album

there you go 5 rappers/groups that are better than wayne with examples of songs of why they are better. just for kicks ill add 5 more rappers with one song why they are better

styles p - leave a message
juelz santana - the second coming(weezy jacked his entire style)
trae - smile
talib kweli - ms hill
joe budden - stained

Completely agree.

I was going to throw Hova on my list but if he said that Wayne was better than him my head would literally explode. Also definitely agree with Talib, was going to throw him on but couldn’t think of which song I would list…I like ms. hill…maybe even more or less. I also agree with beanz and scarface, but didn’t think he’d have heard of them.

Hell I’d even add eminem to that list, and I HATED his last couple cds. Pick a track off the slim shady LP…rock bottom, if I had a million where he’s pouring his heart out. Still don’t give a fuck, just don’t give a fuck.

now if you excuse me I’m going to go listen to Lollipop and slit my fucking wrists

OMG JADAKISS IS SO FUCKIN WEAK…

Is the song “pineapple sunkiss” on the album?? or what a bout “lisa marie”

I was hoping someone would post that…

“I don’t even feel comfortable kissing my own son on the lips…and you’re not even birdman’s real kid”

Some wayne songs better then this other stuff mentioned. Hove is the only rapper I’d consider being better, I’m not gunna lie to myself. Wayne is still better than the rest.

Hard Body. “I’m illy shirt softer than gilli in a pair of gucci flops feelin’ freer than willy”

How You Like Me Now. “I don’t know what you on but I’m on some some new shit and you’re bitch is on my dick like a glue stick.”

Diamonds and Girls. “Speed boat, white Beater, Balling like Derek Jeter for every reason, That Testaroaster can get ghost like it never seen ya, The same color as Sesame-a”

Pussy Mvp. “My flow sweet, make my teeth hurt, I spit ice cream bars as desert.”

Brand New. “Louis V Tennis Shoes Big Brown Stripe U Think U Fresh Shit Nigga I’m Ripe”

I have a lot more if needed.

are you really going to do this? honestly i didnt say wayne sucks i just said he isnt the best, for every line you put here im pretty sure i can dig up a verse thats better…dont do this, i can also name a wack wayne line for every one you can come up with

“I’m hot like light” - camron ft lil wayne suck it or not

“i got game like stewart… scott straight out the espn shoppe”

haha alright i’m done debating. this argument is completely opinion based and biased (generation gaps). to me lil wayne is the best rapper alive and to you guys he isn’t. if you don’t like him thats up to you, but you can not say the man sucks and is 90% trash because the majority of the rap listening population would gladly disagree.

are you guys serious? everyone is better than Lil Wayne which is why everyone is so much more popular and selling as many records, shows and putting out a song every fuckin day like him.

whether or not you like this guy at all, hes made more of a name for himself than any other rapper ever has.

Lisa Marie is a hot song, any song thats ill to play while youre gettin down with a chick is a fuckin tight song dude.

actually im pretty sure we’re around the same age im 20, not knocking him hell i preordered the carter 3 i just think that too say he is the greatest rapper alive is reaching, hell id have him in my top 20 last real dope line he had that i can remember off my head was “all my kicks fly like lu kang”

you say that the 90% of hip hop listeners would disagree, thats a fair statement because the majority of hip hop listeners just listen to what mtv and the radio feeds them, they havent been exposed too alot of other artists.

Also alot of people follow a sheep mentality go with the rest of the herd…

More than ANY other rapper EVER has? I don’t think so.

“Out the window of the jet you see LA like a bruin”

^ Wayne - cant tell me nothin freestyle

Who cares if “lisa marie” isnt a good RAP song…its a good song period. wayne is more than jus rap.

You guys heard Birdman feat. Wayne - I run this…that song is clean.
