Ha. That does sound gross. I’m curious how much alcohol affects protein synthesis. I like to have a few here and there myself but I also work out most days and wonder if I’m spinning my wheels. Doesnt seem to be bother you. Amazing progress. I’ll be following along.
Here’s your guide. 0.5g alcohol per kg of bodyweight might be okay. A gram of alcohol has 7 calories. Break down the macros of your drink and the missing part is the alcohol.
Example: a shot (1.5 oz) of vanilla Crown Royal has 100 calories. The nutrition label shows 0g fat, 4.4g carbs , 0g protein. 4.4g carbs = 17.6 calories. That leaves 82.4 calories unaccounted for on the label. 82.4/7 = 11.8g of alcohol.
I can have 6 oz of Crown and possibly avoid the negative effects of alcohol (210-215 lbs). I’ve put way too much effort into justifying my drinking…
Awesome. Thanks!
Well I worked 13 hrs today and missed my workout. Got frustrated and gripes at an employee. Felt bad about it. Ordered a sandwich for lunch, and they left the turkey, ham, and roast beef off of it, drank some vodka tonight, and am exhausted. Tomorrow will be better…
But I did find a fun app while drinking. Here’s to hoping that this will be 30,years from now lol.
That’s hilarious!! I was about to accuse you of dying the beard before I read your post all the way thru ![]()
Oh Man, some app! At first, glancing ahead at your picture I just thought you were super hung over today.
Got away from work today to train. Bicep tendon and shoulder is still bugging me so I’m doing lighter weight and working on TUT. 5 second eccentric and concentric motions. I can’t wait for this damn tendinitis to be less inflamed. In the past it usually takes a few months though. Ugh.
Today’s training
Chest and triceps
Flat cable press
Incline cable press
Dumbbell flys
Iron cross
Rope pull downs
Bar push downs
Overhead rope extensions
Cricket pushups
Do you feel more or less stress on your joints with the slow tempos? I’ve been using 2-3 second eccentrics lately. Yesterday, I did regular tempo and it felt better on my joints.
I feel less when I go slow. I tend to ramp up slower this way. It’s the explosive movements that tend to aggravate it further. For example I could push a wheel barrow around all day and be pretty good but hitting a baseball would wreck the rest of my day if that makes sense.
Been away from the logs for a minute and I came back here to vodka protein shakes… backing away slowly.

Gotta get in a solid session today and then headed to west palm beach tomorrow for a long weekend and National Championships with my Trampoline team.
Good luck at nationals mate.
Good luck to your team Jack.
What’s up @jackolee you still there?
I was able to reach Jack. He’s doing good, just swamped with business work. I told him we missed him on the forum.
Still here. At the tail end of a renovation at work and have pretty much been there 9-9 5-6 days a week. Should be all finished up sept 9th and hopefully I can return to a somewhat normal schedule.
Been getting in my training but just 3-4 sessions a week. Ready to kick it back into gear for sure though!
I think you’ll be fine. I’m enjoying every other day lifting sessions right now. I feel fresh with this approach. I try to do the cardio machines and abs on the off days but I don’t lose any sleep if I miss one of those sessions.

Do you find the hand position on OHP to work different parts of your delts?
@jackolee - I spent yesterday afternoon and most of the morning going through your entire log…
Awesome work my man. I will definitely be picking your brain as I go forward with some specific nutrition and TRT questions.
