The Biggest Derailer?

Laziness

I did break my arm once a year or 2 ago, so for a period of some months, I did have a legitimate excuse.

But aside from that short time period, only reason I don’t lift at times is sheer laziness.

How does depression hurt training? I feel like i would get depressed if i didn’t regularly train…

For me i’d say back injury and dipping too often (makes me sick)
Clinical depression, not oh I feel kind of down in the dumps today depression.

Injury, surgery and working out of town derails me
The kind where you cant even sleep at night youre so sad but you have no idea why. The kind were you spend the entire day feeling like a zombie, only youve been here for so long its become normal, making it all the more irritating. The kind where no food seems appealing, hanging out with friends seems like the worst situation possible and school, fuck that. Thats the kind of depression that can derail training. Sure some people get sad and work it out at the gym, im talking ive been depressed for weeks and months on end with no feeling of hope for anything different.

I thought this was going to be a cycling thread.

Exactly was my point, many people here believe Depression is just big pharma and evil Drs way of making money. That you just need to BELIEVE you are happy and just get over it, which is of course horse shit.

Are you on meds?

na been in therapy for almost a year now, never saw someone until i got arrested for shoplifting last summer, literally started a stealing habit as a way of having a thrill in my day to act as a ‘jump start’ I was at the point of doing anything to not feel shitty haha, its been off and on lately, it really fucks with my sleep i dont even sleep more than 2 hours at time lately, which of course makes the whole tired and depressed thing harder to fight off… its a vicious cycle.
Im not really sure what i need but i have been considering looking into some testing for different shit. See what comes up.

Injury, surgery.

Extended cheat meals/days. Sometimes they stretch out to about a week.

Just re-filling my glycogen stores man, look away… :frowning:

something is pinching ever since the left shoulder surgery…fml

right shoulder:

left knee:
patella femoral pain syndrome

pelvis sits lower than the right side
cyst in the joint
joint maligned

right hand:

D: all of the above = depression

I glow in the dark from all the x-rays. I’m sure I missed something

not bad not bad

I was just listing my injuries that happened recently in SUCCESSION, i’ve been out for a solid 2 years alternating between upper body and lower body to try and keep active.
i’ve got a few more to list but happened a a bit further back.

i.e.

Greenstick fracture of the proximal ulnar epiphysis x 2
Cracked skull
Cracked T 10
Broken fingers (can’t even remember how many but most of them have seen some plaster action)
Dislocated ankle
Broken hip (this was by far the worst puked right after it happened and couldn’t turn over in bed for a week after)
Dislocated both shoulders prior to the bankart lesion in my left.
Knocked out my front teeth.

Then there was the cool stuff like being stabbed and being shot at but don’t really count as injuries

Growing up in africa skateboarding/rugby/motocross does come with it’s risks

I forgot the following:

 • broke both my front teeth

 • dropped a 45 on my shin/foot. It removed a strip of skin about an inch wide and 2 inches long from my shin and broke 4 toes, not the big toe, thank god

-flipped over the handle bars of my bike (didn’t see a huge pothole because I was looking over my shoulder, broke my fall with my face, no helmet. I think the peg clipped the back of my head because nearly 20 years later I still have a lump on the back of my skull. I woke up under a car in the middle of the street.

-my brother decided to slapshot a hockey puck out of my hand effectively peeling the skin off half of my finger.

-I punched a plastic window thinking it would shatter when I was 10, it didn’t, just sliced the shit out of my right forearm. Had to break off pieces to pull my arm out.

-hoped over a chain link fence when I was 12. only I was a fat 12 and didn’t quite make it. The fence had the twisted barbs at the top, and took it straight into my right kneecap. I hung on for dear lift until my uncle lifted my off the fence and pull my knee off the barb.

-my pet snake bit my thumb and I pulled it off. NEVER PULL!!! it was like a 10000 fishhooks digging in.

I’m not making any of this up.

Bass please get one of these.

I didn’t miss a scheduled day at the gym for over a year and a half until last thursday. A girl I have mutual attraction with is moving in 50 days and I thought I’d be spending time with her at least until then, but she changed her mind. Not the end of the world but it still sucks. Anxiety can be a killer.

venomous spider bite
“Loxosceles valida” aka brown recluse

was only 6 though and don’t remember much of it except the drip.

You know you’re not supposed to snort the spiders right?

I hate that attitude from ppl who don’t know what they are talking about. Granted, now that I’m generally happy and in a different place in my life and I don’t need Prozac to function, I don’t think I would have gotten here if I hadn’t been on meds. Meds allowed me to function for the last 10-11 years.

So you don’t actually need meds but it is clinical?
