The Best Workout Time?

my question is, i wake up at 800am, take a 2hr nap around 200pm.

Where do i start the clock for that 3-11hr time period?

Am i able to refresh my CNS with that small 2hr nap?

Is this a serious question?

I think after a few weeks your body should adjust to whatever time you workout. So long as you go in at the same time EVERY time, I think the 3-11 hour timing becomes irrelevant.

What time do you normally workout if you wake up at 8 am?

since when does your CNS become susceptible to routine? and why would tibs make a statement like he did if it wasnt fact?
i get to the gym around 9-10. stay for 1.5hrs+/-

Not to over simplify things, but when do you feel at your best in the gym?

I work out at 4:00 PM almost exclusively because I have found that my body simply handles the workload better at this time of the day.

Conversely, I feel like shit whenever I have attempted to squeeze a workout in the morning hours.

Seems your complicating things…

Right, when do you feel like you have the most energy during your day to workout?

This is of course going on the assumption that you have all the freedom in the world to choose when to workout and are not forced to workout at certain times due to work/school/other responsibilities.

Your CNS does become accustomed to routines of timing…so if you cannot make it to the gym when you feel your energy is highest, over time you should adapt. Also, I find that after a nap lasting longer than 20 minutes, I’m comatose for at least 2 hours. I can never take a nap then go to the gym.

I’m capable of lifting much harder feeling slightly tired and taking a nap when I get home than vice versa. Is the nap scheduled at that time for a reason?

The best time to workout is when you can. I workout at 4:30 in the morning. I’d rather not, but its the only time I can.

alright, so just keep doing what im doing then, i find it difficult to enjoy my workouts at any other time then night.

I enjoy working out at night if I can manage it in my schedule, but midday before the afternoon rush and after the geriatrics have cleared is my best bet.

I also take a nap after I lift. Keeps me refreshed.

go when youre ready. fuck what anyone has to say about optimal times if you dont FEEL optimal. im usuall up around 8 and leave for the gym around 11:30 get there round 12 or 12:30 its generally in the same time frame every day.

imo this is all great in a perfect world where we do nothing but lift.

unfortunately many of us have jobs/school/kids/etc that prevent us from just training.

So I train around my schedule but it’s always in my schedule.

If I have the day off and I know I’m doing NOTHING but training I prefer to sleep in until 10ish, wake up and have 2 breakfasts (spread out) and then hit the gym around 2ish.

I got plenty of rest, plenty of fuel, and the gym is empty so plenty of room too.

Then go home and grub, then nap.

Awesome…man I hope to someday achieve that. lol

Idk man I guess in summary, it’s cool to think about this stuff and incorporate it, but only do so if you actually can without life getting in the way…know what imma sayin?? lol

otherwise just live life and pick a few good times to train when you can. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

my nickels worth of advice…I’m bumping the rate it’s no longer just .02…

just what i was looking for, thanks gerdy

pretty much the reason i asked the question, just gives me a reason to get a little more hardcore working out. just something mental.

right on man. I’d just say try different things and you’ll notice little tricks that work for you and things that don’t.

I hate training in the mornings, like before noon. lol It doesn’t matter what pre-workout crack drink I have…how many meals I have, etc. I just NEVER get a good morning workout in. There was a while I liked them, but it changed.

Now I prefer training either early afternoon or late night.

I’ve also found that if I have Sushi like 5-6 hours before training I’ve had some of the most kick ass workouts ever. lol

pssshhhhhfftt! Who needs NOEXPLODE when I can have some fine sahsimi haha!

DG

also when are you gonna compete dood??

that back shot is sick. I know you’ve had it up for a while but you could do some damage. Aren’t you still 19 too or am I mistaken?

DG

Dan John only lets his athletes train when they’ve had minimum two preferably three meals/feeds under their belt- think there’s a lot of value to this.

i was thinking about competeing but im not confident in my legs just yet. once i grow out of this new pair of pants i picked up the other day i might think about it again lol. that and im at school where managing a diet is very difficult, so maybe after april. yes i will be 19 until june.

sushi? really? that sounds great, ill have to give it a shot.

The back shot is definitely sick.

I don’t think I’ve seen a shot of your legs. They can’t be that bad, man, especially if you are 230 at 6 feet.

I’m the same way. I feel much better and get a better workout when I’ve had at least three meals/snacks (preferably four) before I train.

I’ve trained after only 1-2 meals, and it’s just not the same. I don’t seem to have as much energy. Also, I don’t like training earlier in the day.

I’m the same…when I lift M-F I have to train after work and it means I’ve had about 4-5 meals + my Pre workout shake before I lift. I always feel strong and have lots of energy.

If I lift on the weekend I tend to lift in the earlier afternoon and only have 1-2 meals + my pre workout shake in me. I usually feel weaker, have less energy, etc…so I’ve stopped lifting on the weekends and stick exclusively to M-F when I am on my regimented schedule. This just works the best for me.
