Jim Thorpe was for many years considered the greatest athlete ever. They say he used to stand at the fifty, throw a perfect spiral through the uprights, turn around and punt one through the other set of goal post’s. Olympic gold medal winner in decathathlon and pentathlon, pro baseball, pro football, pro basketball.

When White flash mentioned Jordan as the greatest athlete (which he isn’t), I immediately thought of Thorpe.
I have never seen another athlete dominate in so many different sports like he did.
The closest modern day athlete I can think of that even came close (term used loosely) was Bo Jackson.

I can agree and disagree with BOTH of you. Because Whiteflash is correct that Jordan is the Greatest athlete “I” have ever SEEN. And Thorpe dominated but he is the greatest we ever READ about. Its sad that there is limited Video of his dominance and we can only go on Reports because it would have been great to see him and JACK JOHNSON in action

Fair enough.
I just have a problem with saying so and so is the greatest athlete ever and he/she only played one sport.

Best reason NOT to teach Gorillas Sign language. Like do we really need anything that strong to be able to flip you off after ripping your arms off.

I can see what you’re saying. If we’re talking about ability to perform at a really high level in multiple sports/events then we can use whoever the best decathlete is today. But, not to take away from the athletes of yesteryears accomplishments, but very few - if any - of them could compete today. Sport has evolved too much. Anyone from the 50’s and 60’s would be playing rec league today. I will co-sign on Bo Jackson being maybe the best natural athlete ever born. I read that he had a shot at being an Olympian in one of the hurdling events but shot it down to focus on college. Pure Freako.

Oh, and ignore the text that comes up. Some 4channer thought it’d be funny to try to ruin this otherwise perfect scene.

Some of Johnson’s fights are on Youtube
^What trips me out about Jack Johnson was how developed he was. The shoulders on that guy were above most of the people I see who call themselves bodybuilding. I’m cautious to call him a freak for his times becuase it just gives people and excuse to say he did not put in serious work and food to become Yoked.
THE BEST CALL BY A DIRECTOR - “Not to Hire Robert De Niro AS SONNY for the GODFATHER”
Not many people know De Niro really wanted that part, I think It was a good decision.

Even better call: at one point the studios were pressuring Coppola to hire Robert Redford for Michael Corleone.
