The Best T-Movies

First Blood: probably the ultimate T-Nation movie.

Predator: bad ass special forces fighting an alien in the jungle. Can’t beat that.

Blood Sport

Platoon - yeah, it’s a buzz kill of a movie, but Charlie Sheen goes apeshit in the end and takes care of business.

Kill Bill? it has a chick for a hero, but she’s on a mission and she kicks absolute ass. That’s T-Nation to me.

And now, some OLD SCHOOL T-Nation movies:

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: total dude buddy flick, great action sequences, and two actors at the height of their careers.

Three Days Of The Condor - great Sydney Pollack film about a regular CIA research analyst on the run from hitmen, and kicks ass along the way. Great flick.

Best ‘T’ movies…

Hmmm… well, off hand, I’m going to have to say Terminator, Tremors, Titanic, Time Bandits, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Transformers, Trainspotting, Tootsie, Training Day, Top Gun, Traffic, To Kill a Mockingbird, Total Recall, Toy Story…

And yeah, the whole ‘T-anything’ phrase is out of control, and wasn’t that cool to begin with.

What genre are we talking?

Reservoir Dogs (can’t be said too many times)
Breaker Morant
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Dirty Hairy
Good Fellas
True Romance (also can’t be said too many times)
The Flamingo Kid (just for Janet Jones)
The Getaway
Papillion

Mmm…Reservoir Dogs and Boondock Saints are awesome movies. Goodfellas is good too. I also liked the Rocky series (for the most part), Gladiators, and the original Longest Yard.

Here is 5 manly movies/series that will get you pumped up

  1. Rocky all of them
  2. Rambo all of them
  3. Braveheart
  4. Gladiator
  5. Conan the Barbarian

Whether people liked the movie/Brad Pitt/Orlando Bloom or not, The Iliad is one of the most epic stories ever told. I find it very powerful that it’s one of the oldest surviving pieces of Western literature. And Achilles is the ULTIMATE BADASS, T-MAN whatever you want to call it.

His fighting prowess (he was a demigod for Christsake) makes him a hero, combined with the stubbornness/arrogance/pride/hubris makes for a terribly compelling character that I think all men can identify with to some extent.

Contrast that with Hector, a bonus, the White Knight, favorite son of Troy whose moral purpose and courage remain steadfast.

“Sing, goddess, the rage/wrath of Achilles the son of Peleus,
the destructive rage that sent countless ills on the Achaeans…”

Is the first lines of the Iliad, only in Ancient Greek the syntax is different so the very first word in the book is “rage/wrath”, purposefully.

I really would recommend it to anyone who can stomach reading anything that’s not really modern prose, or find a newer/easier translation. Made me really appreciate the movie a TON more (even though it was very flawed).

  • Sorry for the ramble -
