Live in Norway myself, and just has to say that our health system is good, but not as godlike as Moore try to make it look. We doesn’t even have free Dentist care. It cost me 10 dollars to go to a doctor, but if i lose a theet and goes to a dentist, i have to pay fucking 1500 dollars… wtf?
That maybe why minced meat is so expensive up there

Brush up!

25 - 30 year old can’t find a job or temping health care in the U.S. is the best. We never get more sick then a cold, and teeth stay totally clean. Any ailments are solved with windex.

Quite an insightful post. Norway is, fundamentally, a very different country to the U.S and many of the other great democracies of the west, but it’s interesting to get perspectives from different systems.

I got the perfect solution… More death penalties:)

The problem isn’t the system, its the people who commit the crimes. Keep in mind that our country has programs too. There’s halfway houses, job skill programs etc. We try damn hard to rehabilitate lots of people. Some see the light and some choose to live that institutionalized life style.

Norway doesn’t have a strong gang subculture like we do.

Thank you, I laughed so hard. I really did.

“We try damn hard to rehabilitate lots of people” You obviously have no experience with the US legal system.

I’ll leave it at that, and thank you again for the laugh.
Quit being a jackass

I’ve never been arrested but I can safely say I’ve probably known more people than you that have been to prison and gotten back up on their feet. I’ve heard countless stories. I’ve know these people and I’ve know them well. They’ve talked to me about prison for hours. I also know some police officers well too, one is a long time veteran. I’ve talked hours with him about criminals and the prison system. You really have no idea. Is it perfect, no, not at all.

Some of these people in prison deserve to be in prison. They are reluctant to change. That means others are completely powerless to rehabilitate them. Your naive to think otherwise.

If your a danger to society and you prey on others, you should be punished not pampered.

Of course people in prison deserve to be in prison, they are locked up to protect the society from them.
But most of them will be released after some time, and what state of mind will they be in when they are released? Will they be good, same or worse, does the prison system make hardened criminals? I don’t know myself, but I think it is a possibility. So what is most important? Punishing the criminal and making him the most miserable? Or protecting the society from him, and try rehabilitate him to when he is to be released.
