I fucking hated Bumble and would give girls a ton of shit when they messaged “hey”, or “wu?” or some other halfassed bullshit opener.
I too had some self deprecating humor in my profile. I’m very light skinned and had a joke about never going anywhere without SPF +50. My now wife, actually messaged me first saying she had a whole tube of suncreen she would love to rub on me, but it was only SPF 30, and asked if that would do. I told her two coats = SPF 60.

The biggest eye opener for me was when I looked at one of my girl friends tinder. Literally every time she swiped it was a match. 100s of messages with ‘Hey’ or Hi, how are you’, that she was never going to reply back to, regardless of how good looking the guy was (with some exceptions).
Self deprecating humour is always a winner. Mine was a joke I saw online but the wording was something along the lines of;
‘Recently went to a costume/fancy dress party dressed as an chicken. Whilst there, I met a girl who was dressed as an egg. Long story short, one of the world’s most debated question was answered that night… the chicken’.
That was it. Nothing about me. Showed it to a few mates who thought it was stupid. However, once I did change it, I had girls initiating the conversation, referring back to the joke. It was surreal.

Don’t try too hard man. You don’t need ‘professional looking’ photos. As mentioned, the first pic you have looks so much better than the second. I would argue that it also looks a lot less professional!
If you want a bit of an ego/confidence boost, just use your current pic that you have on here on Tinder with a light-hearted profile thing. I am sure would get many, many matches.

Damn showing up late and haven’t read all the way through.
I’ve been in a similar situation. And to be honest, my issue back then was I wasn’t giving good sex for these girls to come back and hit me up. At least that’s my theory. I also didn’t wanna be a boyfriend.

Agree with the others, in the second pic you look like a classic kids’ show bad guy, out to take over the world, starting with that thing you’re clenching so determinedly.
I think you should ask your hairdresser about a hairstyle that might offset your eyes and brow (seems to be where the “intense” comes from) or just…she’ll know…make you look more approachable.
And/or put your glasses on.

Both pics are 6 years old from last time I tried online dating. I’ll get some new ones up here soon and get some opinions on which to use for profile pics. Here’s a more recent selfie in the mean time, in case you have any suggestions on softening my appearance. But yeah, I’m German…I look like a villain.
