Perfect way to start my day. My right hip flexor has been bothering me for the last couple of weeks. It’s been tender to the touch and a bit achy. On my second work set it pretty much gave out on me. It’s not a bad injury, but it’s a bad enough pull that I can feel the muscles pulling on the right side of my back. It’s nothing some stretching/foam rolling/icing won’t fix, but I’m not sure how my squatting for the next week is going to go. I might just pop on my power pants and keep going, or just drop the weight down and de-load. I’d rather not do either one, but hip injuries are not something you fuck around with.
On the business front I’ve put out an ad for my summer camp in the local paper and it was EXPENSIVE. Of course I might not get thing out of it, or it might be an amazing success, you never know in this business. Marketing is a bitch!
Well the last couple of weeks have been a disaster training wise. First some kid dropped a 45lb plate on my foot, right around the cuneiform. The jury is still out whether it’s broken. 2 weeks later and it still hurts quite a bit. Then of course I got another respiratory infection. The combination of the double lung pneumonia and the fact that I’m in a public school 3 times a week has made for back to back infections. Good times.
I just did some moderate singles today. They were pretty tough but then again not really. My CNS wasn’t quite primed for heavy singles, but moving the weight wasn’t that hard at the same time. I’ll use these numbers for the transition into the Texas Method.
On the business side, things are looking way up for this summer. I’ve been marketing my ass off for my summer camp and I’m getting quite a bit of feedback. I won’t get my hopes up until I have money in the bank, but I still have a month to go, and I’ve already got 40 interested parties so far. Time to go on a marketing BLITZ!
I’ve moved back to an intermediate training program. I’m doing a modified version of the Texas Method. I’ve made a couple of changes to this cycle that I think will address some of my weaknesses.
My Monday 5x5 squats are done pretty much naked. No belt, no wraps, no shoes. I’m also pretty much planting my ass on the ground. 5 sets of 5 at 275 was pretty difficult today that way.
I’m adding a board press (haven’t done them in YEARS). My triceps are shit right now and I need to bring them up.
Instead of doing a 5RM each week I’m doing a 5RM then 3RM next week and a 1RM on the third, fourth is a deload week.

What happened with the crossfags[/quote]
That’s kind of a long story. We went out there, did the powerlifting portion. I squatted 500, just barely missed 550. The best squat from the crossfit side was 450 (the guy was on the shit too). We took the best overhead press and deadlift as well.
We did ok on the Crossfit part, it fucking sucked, but I was about middle of the road.
The really weird thing is that my brother and ex business partner is now a trainer at the Crossfag gym. That’s a big dramatic story that’s still unfolding right now, and it’s one of the reasons I’m so vague on here about my business affairs.
But yeah, one day in December my brother didn’t show up, and the next day I got a call telling me that he had left the gym and had taken his clients with him. It was a huge shock, and it almost destroyed the gym. But really it was for the best. I wanted to run the business a certain way and he wanted to run it in a completely opposite direction, so something had to give.
There was absolutely nothing easy about that. I’m also dropping more weight, I’m under 220 now. After the fridge at the gym died, I’ve lost a solid 8 pounds. All my troubles lifting and weight wise right now are due to: 1) Stress due to business related shit 2) A lack of calories. Making more money will solve both of these problems. Here’s to a successful summer camp!
