You have to try the waiters’ walks. I haven’t referred to them w/that cool name in my log, but you’ll love them. It really is a challenge=fun!
Congrats on the fs PR.

frot squat PR - returning to the table with a vengeance. I like it ![]()
Went to a yoga class over the weekend (Iyengar.) It was a lot of fun – a different kind of challenge. I’m going to try to do some of the poses when I wake up in the morning. I have chronically lousy posture and I’d like to get better at, you know, standing and sitting and walking gracefully.
upper day:
bench: 10@45, 10@65, 5@85, 5@95, 2@105, fail@110
db press: 10@25’s, 5@27.5’s, 5@30’s, fail@32.5’s
tricep pulldowns: 3x10@90
renegade rows: 3x10 each arm @25’s
front raises: 3x10@12.5’s
6 sprints, 30 sec on, 30 sec off.
Training looks good today, Alisa. How is the yoga working out?
It’s fun; I’m not going to classes regularly (I spend enough money as it is) but doing some poses in the morning is a nice routine.
8 mile run in the woods.

Nice, very nice. If it’s pretty out, I can be really addicted.
And cool that you are hitting some PRs while dieting down too. That’s awesome Alisa.
wow!!! 8 miles! i picture it all cool in the woods too…lil red riding hod style ![]()
I’m flirting with the idea of reconnecting with my former love… trail running. Thanks for the inspiration. Just have to figure out how to work it into my schedule. Haven’t done “cardio” in a while.
I like running because it feels good and I want to celebrate warmer weather. I don’t think of it as “cardio” in the drudgery sense, and I don’t do it all the time (it’s easier to do a long run on the weekends.) Running in the woods is one of life’s pleasures – unless you have bad knees, which I hope I never get.
Actually right now I’m finding myself just less interested in losing weight – still eating clean and keeping it to 1-2 meals a day, but I’m not “OMG I won’t be happy until I’m pretty” because so much else in my life is going well. I’m lucky in love, making progress in school, reading fascinating stuff (both on the just-for-fun end and the preparation-for-research end), maintaining friendships, and doing some volunteer writing for organizations I believe in.
lower body day:
front squats: 10@45, 8@65, 5@85, 5@95, 4@115, 1@135 (PR! And that’s a lifetime PR for front squats, not just this year.)
hypers: 3x10 with 25-lb plate behind head
barbell glute bridges: 5x10@135
trap bar deadlifts: 3x10@135 (quick and pretty, boom boom boom.)
6 sprints, 30 sec on, 30 sec off.
Wow! Awesome FS PR! Wanna join the I <3 FS club here at PW now? You’ll be in good company…check my log!
That’s super news on the outside-of-the-gym front. Glad everything is coming up roses for ya!
boom boom POW!
awesome FS…
lol@ lifetime PR!
Sounds like life is GOOD for you and thats awesome…
I like where your head is at Girly ![]()
nice PR too!
Alisa, awesome mental attitude and congrats on the 2 plate FS, wicked stuff.
Broke in my new Vibrams with an 8 mile trail run.
I like the thin sole – it feels natural and I didn’t have to “relearn” how to run or anything, I must have already been running on the balls of my feet – but I got hella blistered on the insides of my feet. Hopefully I’ll break 'em in.
Glad to hear you’ve got so much going on in your happy, well-rounded life and progressing on all fronts.
upper day;
bench: 10@45, 10@65, 5@85, 5@95, 3@105, 1@115 (local PR!)

local pr – like a local maximum. Best I’ve done this year, but not best I’ve done lifetime.
