They have similar things here in Korea. The one I always see is ‘bon dae gi’, or silkworm larva.
Hi. Silkworm lava is quite nice, tastes a little like corn. I’ve tried a lotta the bugs here in Thailand the problem I find with most of them is that there is not much ‘meat’ to them and I don’t like the texture of the shells. Thai people don’t seem to be concerned with texture as much as westerners, they eat prawn heads and legs, bite through a chicken bone to get at the marrow. Having said that they have an amazing sense of taste, especially in balancing flavours.
Hi Moose: I live in Bangkok, can you recommend a good place to supply nutritional supplements?
BTW Those bugs taste OK, but BBQ’d wild rat is awesome.
Bkkexile, the only supplements I buy are multivitamins (Centrum Silver) and fishoil (whatever’s cheap). Protein I have my friends bring in form overseas, too bloody expensive to buy here.
Yeah, the BBQ rat is OK, my X-girlfriend brought some down after one visit to her hometown. Not bad at all.

I read a sweet article in Men’s Journal(I think) about this guy who had never been in a fight in his life and one day he decides to pack it up and move to Thailand and train to be a Muy Thai(sp?) fighter. It was a damn good article that everyone should read.
