Texas Changes History Curriculum

 • The slave trade was in fact the “Atlantic triangular trade”. Capitalism, with all its negative connotations, should in future be referred to as the “free enterprise system”. And don’t even think about buying into the theory of evolution: children must instead be taught that God created Earth using a euphemistically-titled technique known as “intelligent design”.

This could hardly be more retarded.

There was already a thread about this travesty.

My bad, should have used the search function.

From the article:

Most controversial of all is a rewriting of a passage in the syllabus dealing with economics. Previously, it stipulated that eighth-grade students must learn how to, “explain reasons for the development of the plantation system, the slave trade, and the spread of slavery”. In the re-worded version, the words “slave trade” were replaced with: “Atlantic triangular trade”.

How is this 'controversial? It’s obviously not meant to hide the slave trade, as the sentence still contains “plantation system,” and the “spread of slavery.” I don’t get it…Are Europeans getting mad because studying the Altantic traingular trade would mean studying Europe’s involvment in the slave trade?

That’s true…

By studying it as the Atlantic Triangular trade it would also cover african involvment. But, if folks are actually upset about european and african involvement being discussed, aren’t they the ones sweeping “the slave trade” under the rug. At least, partially?

Why not? Maybe soon the history revisionists will see fit to exclude Europe’s role altogether. The role of Arabs and Africans has already been basically deleted. Where is it taught that black Africans themselves are the originators of the African-Europe-Americas slave trade? It should be because that is fact.

Europeans and North and South American colonists did not begin the slave trade; they just perfected it. Africans had been enslaving each other for centuries (still do). The slavery infrastructure on the African continent was already in place, i.e., there were black Africans chained by other black Africans before the first Portuguese slave trader ever dropped anchor in an African port.
You are doing serious damage to my ‘white guilt complex’. I thought whitey and especially the Jews around Newport, RI started up all the slavery stuff.

Whatever will I do?

Hey Look! A link to the original thread!

slaves to America ------> unfinished products harvested by slaves shipped back to home countries (mercantilism) --------> finished goods exported

Triangular Trade.

We live in a globalized world now, if you haven’t noticed. What happens in the US does affect the rest of the world. And I wasn’t really complaining. I just posted something that I thought was interesting. Interesting and retarded.

Don’t expect him to understand. It’s a bit beyond people like him to comprehend that there are actually people outside the borders of his own country. I imagine that he thinks we are Satan trying to lead him away from the path of righteous philandering.

Not that there is anything wrong with the swinging aspect of his life, I see that as perhaps one of the few facets of his life that he is actually honest with himself.

This is all very true. However, chain implies the use of metallurgy. They didn’t acquire that sort of technology until the arrival of the Europeans, I am thinking more like; tied or roped would be better term.

Texas, our greatest state, will save this country.

So, how will this effect Norway?
They like to hide out in their European capitals, spitting at America, while we defend them from the evil forces trying to run rampant in the world.

Without us, they’d be speaking German or maybe Russian…and they make fun of us as a bunch of bumkins or insult us as ‘the true source of terror in the world’.

I wish we could just cut ourselves off from all these people. Stay in our own hemisphere and fuck the world. Let it die, as it wishes.

Just for some context, Texas is undergoing a Renaissance boom - the state avoided the real estate mess by and large, has a diversified, dynamic economy and people are moving there in droves.

Enlightened California, of course, is our version of Greece and threatens to become a second-world country of the backwater, paleolithic Texases of the nation don’t step in with truckloads of money.

But don’t tell the “progressives” - it’s more important they get their postmodern chuckles at a non-event than face up to the catastrophe that “enlightened” governance has brought us.

“You people of Texas are idiots! Now, please send us some money! Thanks in advance!”

When there’s a poor harvest in Texas, do they sacrifice a local policeman in a wicker effigy?
