Testosterone Cypionate with Hucog HCG Diet

I’m new and looking for info or personal experience with doing both regimens at the same time. I was just prescribed a single 200mg shot of T every 3 weeks and did my first shot yesterday. In the past I’ve done the HCG diet at 200iu a day for 25 days. I’d like the fat-burning effects of HCG along with the muscle-building of the T but am having trouble finding any info.

Most of the links I’ve found are about a couple of HCG shots of about 250iu (one before the T, one after) to prevent hypogonadism. Has anyone done the more extensive HCG diet while on T as well?

Background: I’m 50 and was fit and quite strong for much of my life, not from exercising but from having very physical jobs. Now I’ve put on a lot of weight over a series of not-too-successful back surgeries since I turned 40.

Also starting to learn some proper form from a few friends who’ve been lifting for years.

-lab results with ranges, waiting on these

-describe diet - lots of protein, green vegetables, less bread and other carbs. sugar and processed foods very limited. no more pints of Haagen-Dasz or chili-cheese fries. portions better controlled now than ever before in my life. not starving.

-describe training - still learning proper form but basically trying to make my muscles ache without lighting up my spine or other parts of my frame.

-testes ache, ever, with a fever? not that I recall

-how have morning wood and nocturnal erections changed - they’ve decreased slowly over the years but still happen.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Read the stickys! Protocol injections etcâ?¦ Anyone who tells you to inject every 3 weeks is a complete moron, you will be a mess and that includes doctors. You are correct however in regards to HCG helping w keeping the balls going, some will go 250IU 3 times weekly, I find that amount twice weekly does the trick for me. Whats your plans for estrogen control?

Labs? Background? What are the issues at play here?

Yeah the stickies, my bad, I feel stupid for posting that before reading KSman’s post from 2009. I’ve already learned a lot and plan to switch to a EOD schedule because that 1ml shot stung for a bit. Also I could barely get it through the #30 needle I was using for the HCG. Thought I was going to snap the plunger off I had to push so hard. As for estrogen control issues I’m still trying to get up to speed with that. I need to add a third substance to the mix I guess.

My last testosterone number was about 8 months ago (maybe my first test, don’t know, came with a physical) at 360-something. The doctor said not to do anything about it but now I have a new doctor who looked at the number and just wrote me the Cypionate. I was actually a bit surprised. I’m not sure what issues are at play with me but basically I had a low t-count from a doctor who said it was normal for my age but when I went to a different doctor he just got out the pad and wrote it. Said something about now being the perfect time with me having a few months of working out under my belt.

Thanks for your reply jkyle! I’ll make sure I RTFM before I ask any more dumb questions.

its cool, I had to learn all this the hard way first and most in here did. I don’t know how far you are in to your regimen but my advice would be to get a complete blood panel first, you can look in the stickys first for lab test. You really have to be your own doctor here. If you think just throwing some test at the problem with no protocol or plan for success you will be severely disappointed. So go back and read the stickys and post us a lab report and let us break it down. Thyroid is also very important and KSman is the expert for sure on that subject. Lots of equations at play here.

If you do:
100mg T ester per week, in divided doses, twice a week or EOD
1.0mg anastrozole per week in divided doses, adjusting to get E2=22pg/ml
250iu hCG SC EOD

  • you will not be needing a hCG diet to loose weight!

Thanks, I’m getting that I should have researched all this better before jumping in. Soonest appointment I could get to see the doctor to do the panels isn’t for a couple of weeks, So now I’m wondering if I should continue on the Cypionate and HCG before I get the anastrozole.

Also the thyroid thing has me concerned as I’ve been on Synthroid (50mcg) for a couple of years for what was described to me as very slight hypothyroidism. Not sure but suspect that the thyroid issues were related to some heavy but functional drinking I used to do. Sober now and it’s great btw.

Have you studied the thyroid basics sticky:
-body temperatures
-iodine

I’ve read it now KSman and I want to thank you for all the effort you’ve clearly put in to share the wealth of information you’ve acquired on the subject. good on ya mate!

The ‘HCG Diet’ is absurd if you ask me. There’s absolutely no reason to starve yourself on 800 calories a day, and there are plenty of reasons to not take that approach. For one, it will really damage your overall hormonal profile. For another, it’s not a sustainable way of eating/living. It’s just complete bunk and the only people interested in it are those just looking at a scale and not worried about overall health.

Get your diet sorted. It has to be rock solid. I prefer starting with a basic Paleo-type thing and working from there, but many other people have success with different approaches, YMMV. Regardless, keep processed food to a minimum and refined sugar to less than that.

Get your hormonal situation figured out, with a doctor if you can find a good one.

Train smart. Lift some heavy stuff a few times a week. Take a couple long (1 hr.), brisk walks. Don’t try and burn yourself to the ground every day like your average C.F.'er, but every once in a while you should walk out of the gym completely F’d.

Last, and maybe most important, sleep. 8 hours is good, but 10 is probably better. If you can get 8 hours at night and a cat-nap for 15 minutes here and there during the day, you’ll generally be ahead of the game.

That’s my take, anyway.

Thanks for the advice Fat Boy 33. My diet’s pretty paleo throughout the day and has been for a while. I’m working hard on my night-eating problem too, with most of my night time consumption being stuff like yogurt and fruit.

That’s been the hardest thing to cut out too, the midnight autopilot. but portions are way down and my stomach has shrunk to the point where half the amount I used to eat satisfies me. Sleep however is another huge issue and I rarely get over five hours a night. I had the panels done yesterday and will post the results when I get them.

If your thyroid levels are sub-optimal, its hard to loose weight.

Stickies:

  • advice for new guys
  • thyroid basics
    – check your body temperatures as per the sticky and note issues with iodine deficiency. - most are deficient.

Just understand that I didn’t say you need to eat ‘Paleo’ or any other way. Just eat good food. If you want to eat yogurt, then eat it, but make sure it fits in with the rest of your diet. Don’t get the stuff that is loaded with sugar and HFCS. If you’re just looking for a source of dense protein, then get some fat-free greek yogurt. If you’re looking to get some fat in your diet as well, then get the much better tasting full-fat yogurt. Either way, don’t load it up with sugar, just throw some blueberries and chopped nuts in it, you’ll be dialed.

I’ve been checking my temperature in the mornings when I wake up and it’s been been between 97.2 and 98.2F. Started with a 12.5mg iodine supplement without discontinuing 50mcg Levothyroxin. Hoping temps will go up. Also started the Anastrozole at 1mg EOD to go with the Cypionate and HCG EOD schedule as recommended. Not starving myself but eating less and better.

Hitting the gym about five days a week for between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. Light weights with lots of reps and cardio mostly but a bit of upper body maximums for me. Funny how my legs feel as strong as they ever were (leg press the whole stack of 300-something lbs 30x no problem) but 12 years after my first back surgery I can only push a little over 100 lbs with my arms. So about half the peak of my youth. Looking forward to the panel results next week.
