HAHAHA! Camp Wood is right there, too, man. Damned forsaken black hole!

That whole area of South Texas SUCKS MY ASS.

Well, it sure sounds like a better option than the other places we’ve griped about.

Give me fair warning and I would love to fly in for this. I’m guessing you know the area better than I do, so wherever you want to hold it is fine.

For interest sake, If im coming from Atlanta, do I have to fly or is it a reasonable drive?

That is at least a 15 hour drive or more.
Damn, you have a big piece of earth.
Flying it will be.

Any drive over 9 hours for me is cutting it close. I start to get restless after 5 hours and I am ready to scream by 8.

Dude. From Atlanta it is 800 miles to Houston and 780 to Dallas. How slow do you drive?

Yahoo maps lists it as 12 and 25min for 809 miles. Driving 70mph all of the way through could put you there just under 12 hours and possibly an average of about 10 hours if you drive 80 and above. I was originally judging it from my current location which is about 8-9 hours depending on how many cops are on the road (which there are plenty of) and then the distance from here to Atlanta.

Funny ass pic-but it is still far better than to drive in Texas than to sit in that appocalyptic So. Calif. traffic that I escaped two years ago…I am very glad though I bought a house in OC in 96 and sold it to some sucker who welcomed a 40 year mortgage in a place that will be inhabbitted, at best, by prmiarily day-care raised kids, all so mommy and daddy can look cool and keep up with the image the hollywood machine drives as far as materialism. 800k for thirty year old 2000 square foot stucco boxes built over chicken wire, dreaming of living where the rich from other countries who look down their nose at you-no thanks, I’ll take Texas. All of the Strongest guys in the U.S. (I placed 4th in the U.S. Strongest Man contest last year) do not come from California. It takes too much hard work and you really can’t look cool doing prodcutive strength training-something that is essential for Californians. Blast away-but I am still stronger than you and in T-Nation that is all that matters. I dig how you Californians embrace and talk gangsta…so roll on with your bad self.

I’ll do a presentation if you guys want. I’m not sure what it would be on, but it will be free, so let me know. My skills include blinking, breathing, farting and looking at broccoli.

why all the angst? or are you being funny? maybe both? i can’t tell.

this is what makes the world go around, you know … different strokes for different folks. i grew up in the midwest. to me, kansas is more like texas than nor cal is like so cal. it was a great time, but it is no longer for me. yeah, LA tends to suck mega @ss dumplings with the traffic (of course texas does not have traffic) and snobbery and other unpleasantries. and california politics and social policies … ugh.

but, imho, the good far outweighs the bad … within a 4 hour drive i can be:

on the beach
in vegas
skiing the sierras
basking in glorious death valley
standing on the golden gate bridge
at a laker game
at the tallest mountain in the lower 48
raiding TC’s frig

need i go on?

and i do not see how living in texas equates to being strong. “i am still stronger than you.” so f*cking what? i may never be the strongest guy here. hell, i may never even be the strongest girl here. whatever.

let’s not make it personal, but let’s do get one thing clear:

being stronger than someone else is NOT all that matters in T-Nation … T-Nation is our community to share, to learn, to grow … for me, it is about self development - being a better person - and becoming stronger than the guy i was yesterday

and “talk gangsta”? nigga pleez.

Dan

As scary as it may be to attend anything where Fouts and Heffernan are present, if this is being planned for the Fall, I’m in.

Plus there is the added bonus of Fouts and RJ making goo-goo eyes at each other all weekend long.

hey rainjack, is there anything that Texas did NOT invent? you cocksmokers lay claim to everything that is great and nothing that is not. i say you f*ckers invented the first US / Mexico border … THANKS FOR THAT.

Dan

We didn’t invet whiny-assed Cali-boys, that’s for sure. We didn’t invent pink polos. But we do have to admit to inventing the Houston Texans. But to be accurate - Mexico invented the first border - with the Republic of Texas. Yeeehaaaaaa motherfucker!!!

I keep trying to figure out why we let you guys in.

Hell, you even tried to leave again! We should’ve learned…

Actually, it’s “Leakey” and “Killeen” and yes, if there’s a bright center of the universe, they’re the towns that are furthest from it.
Leaky is also a “dry” town which means that, if the local yokels want beer, they have to make someone run to the next town. They also have a high school. That alone boggles my mind. I wonder how many people they had in the last graduating class. At least the frio river is close for them. I have so many great memories from tubing down that thing.

I’m down with Texas! I sure the hell don’t want to miss this one! Anywhere is good for us—just plan it for the end of the year–so those of us who aren’t millionaire’s can try to ‘save up’ for it!

Could it be the return of BFG?

In the Tate hierarchy, the 48 oz you ate in DC would put you squarely in the ‘SUCK’ category. ‘SHIT’ being 24oz. If you stepped up to the 72 oz that would put you in the ‘GOOD’ category. If you want to be ‘GREAT’, hit the Taste of Texas in Houston, the record there is around 114 oz. That’s around 7 pounds to you and me Russ. Eat that much and I can promise you, the next day you will know what a BRICK is.
I have eaten there a couple of times. You order your ribeye by the ounce (16 oz. min.)
Race Fan wrote:

don’t leave us hanging. how much did you eat?

the nice thing about the porterhouse is you can get full on the shitty side yet still have the filet to look forward to. i don’t know if i would want a 4 pound ribeye. wait, what am i thinking? BRICK! of course i want one.

Dan

Dan - yorba was kidding, trying to emulate your own wacky humor - which ought to tell you how well YOU come off

Seriously, Paul is as laid back as it gets…

I can’t remeber exactly what size filet it was. 12 oz. maybe?

I do have a couple of memories of Fogo de Chao. BRICK.

I learned from it.

Taste of Texas is pretty good. Although my favorite so far is Texas Land and Cattle.

Del Frisco’s in Dallas has excellent steaks.
