Test Fest: Texas?

OK Guys,

I had actually already started some ground work on this, but would like to wait until after I am back from worlds at the end of the month – So I guess I would like to take a vote: Austin or DFW area? I am close enough to both that I could swing either one. I am used to helping with setting up and running large powerlifting meets, but any suggestions or help would be great!

whatever, we pull it off, then we pull it off. Let’s not get too bent up over it sucking or not. The first one seemed pretty decent given that it was a first and it still happened well enough.[/quote]

(1) i agree. just make it happen. but it is in texas, so it will suck anyway.

(2) Phill BUSTED HIS BROCCOLI getting the first one done … do not discount that, or you will end up with your broccoli all up in a bunch.

hey rainjack, is there anything that Texas did NOT invent? you cocksmokers lay claim to everything that is great and nothing that is not. i say you f*ckers invented the first US / Mexico border … THANKS FOR THAT.

As much as I love Austin, DFW is probably easier/cheaper for most people to fly into. Deep Ellum isn’t that bad, anyway.

Deep Ellum, The West End - it’s all good. Plus - there’s one of the greatest shithole dive bars in Dallas: Adair’s.

Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas Dallas.

That is all.

We didn’t invet whiny-assed Cali-boys, that’s for sure. We didn’t invent pink polos. But we do have to admit to inventing the Houston Texans. But to be accurate - Mexico invented the first border - with the Republic of Texas. Yeeehaaaaaa motherfucker!!!

I think you all are “Houstonists”.

I live in the DFW metro, so my vote goes to DFW. I’d have to be flying home for it though, as I’m currently in cali.

I think the correct term is anti-houstonites. But I could be wrong.

Give me fair warning and I would love to fly in for this. I’m guessing you know the area better than I do, so wherever you want to hold it is fine.

For interest sake, If im coming from Atlanta, do I have to fly or is it a reasonable drive?

That is at least a 15 hour drive or more.

I’m actually an hour away from San Antonio, but I don’t really care where it’s held. I think the DFW area makes the most sense though the majoity of everyone attending.

My bro lives there and when we drove it w/ 2 kids it was 18 hrs. It mapped online at 16 hrs, though. It’s doable, if you’re up to it.

Edit: My bad. Our trip was San Antonio to Atlanta.

I think Dallas should be the place to have it. Well - probably Arlington but it’s all the same town.

you guys talk more sh!t … all of you fcking punks. "oh i’m gonna eat and eat and eat in DC. that hotel is gonna wish i never stepped foot inside of it. blah. blah. fcking blah." whatever.

you are all just a bunch of broccolis. only myself and two other dudes ate the 48ozer. then i was going to eat someone’s leftover filet, but i opted to save room for more beer.

if your texestrogen festival is in amarillo, i will eat that little 4 pounder. 72 ounces seems big … BRICK … F*CKING BRICK … bring it on!

and fyi, last time i was at fogo de chao, i had to quit chowing on animals because all of the people around me were getting uncomfortable and wanted to leave. two hours was just a bit too much.

and you know texas steaks ain’t the best. i alluded to that earlier, so you came out with more of your bigger is better attitude.

bigger ain’t better, but it’s all you got.

f*ck. yous. guys.

(nice website btw. notice the bold highlight.)

Big Texan Steak Ranch
72oz. Steak Facts and Stats

Nearly 6,200 people have succeeded in eating the 72oz. steak (since 1960).

Almost 37,000 people have attempted to consume the free 72oz. steak (since 1960).

Approximately two women each year successfully eat the steak of the 4 or 5 who try. About 50% of the women who try are successful.

Richard LaFeare chomped his way through 2 steaks on the “Donny & Marie Osmond Show” in 2000.

Frank Pastore, a professional pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds, ate the complete steak dinner in a record that still stands today of just 9? minutes back in May of 1987. This was Frank’s 7th and fastest time to complete the steak contest in 11 years of running to spring training in Florida.

The oldest person to eat the steak was a 69-year-old grandmother; the youngest, an 11-year old boy.

Klondike Bill, a professional wrestler, consumed two complete dinners in the one hour time limit back in the 1960s.

Could it be the return of BFG?

In the Tate hierarchy, the 48 oz you ate in DC would put you squarely in the ‘SUCK’ category. ‘SHIT’ being 24oz. If you stepped up to the 72 oz that would put you in the ‘GOOD’ category. If you want to be ‘GREAT’, hit the Taste of Texas in Houston, the record there is around 114 oz. That’s around 7 pounds to you and me Russ. Eat that much and I can promise you, the next day you will know what a BRICK is.

In the interest of getting max attendance, bigger city, and probably a restitution bill of several million dollars, I’ll lay my nomination on DFW area. There seems to be a enough people experienced in organizing events, so that should not be an issue. I spent that last few years overseas, so I haven’t a goddamn clue as to what it would take to get an event rate at a good hotel, or what hotels even have something resembling a good breakfast. Who knows that answer to this one?

I would definitely be interested in attending if this event is in DFW. I train at Metrofelx with Josh Bryant and he would love to check it out as well. We are hosting in and competing in the Texas Strongest Man Contest on May 13th and the next day Josh is presenting a seminar at Metroflex, totally hands on and only $ 50 per head. I am no nutswinger-but in Nov 05 at the US Strongest Man Contest Josh, at 24 years old benched 600, trap bar deadlifted 840 and did a strict locked out push press with 445lbs. If you guys have a test fest in DFW or even in Austin-we will be there. As one person wrote about Metroflex-pilgrimages are encouraged. PM me with any questions/commets. Thanks.

I vote for bastard Dan. that lovey-dovey Dan just doesn’t cut it. Welcome back, Bastard!!!

Now all is right with the world.

I got used to Bastard Dan and then he changed. Then I got used to Lovey-Dovey Dan and I liked him! I like Nice Dan better than Bastard Dan. But you know, w/o Bastard Dan one would not appreciate or know Nice Dan and vice versa.

If it’s in Houston…I’m there.

If not let me know the date and I am going to organise one on the beach somewhere in California and take a massive 114oz dump on the Tex Fest.
