I’ve read a lot about this and I get conflicting info, so before I place my order I want to be sure. I am running my first cycle of Test E and wondering the most preferred needle and syringe size.
I’m looking at 20G, 1 inch to pull and 25G 1 inch to pin using a 3ml barrel. I’ve heard that even a 23 would be too much, and that anything below a 20 would cause damage, but I’m wondering if the 20 and 25 are indeed the way to go (after all I’ve read it seems to be kind of a sweet spot).
Thanks in advance.

No offense, but really not a lot of solid info there. This thread is very specific to the OP’s question, and again, someone mentions drawing with an 18g, where I’ve continued to read an 18 will damage the bottle. The same person mentioned pinning with a 23 and I stated in my post that this is exactly my hangup, that some say a 23 is bad in comparison to a 25, etc.
I can possibly help.
The bigger you draw with the more likely you will end up with tiny rubber shavings in your oil toward the end of your cycle. (I know it’s not actually rubber but not 100% it’s silicon so) I have done it with 20 and 22 guage so 18 is way too risky. Now yes going with a smaller needle to pull is going to take a little bit longer but it’s better than some teenie tiny fleck of the stopper ending up a inch deep in your ass. If that happens you will most likely end up with an abscess then the doctor has to dig it out. Now most stoppers I have seen on UGL products are grey but I have seen one brand with this almost translucent off white cream color (I think it was just not dyed a color so it was the natural color) so you should be able to see if any little flecks do make it into the oil.
If you have your heart set on having a slightly larger needle to draw with then I wouldn’t go over 23. Again I have seen flecks in my bottles at the end of my cycles using 20 and 22 guage.
For injection you can not go wrong with 25 guage in my mind. Now some UGL’s use thicker oils and some stuff like EQ and Deca is inherently thicker but that is ok. With the 25 you basically get a built in idiot proof safety, no matter how hard you push that plunger it will only let so much oil through per second or whatever time frame. It will keep you from injecting too fast. The fast injections tend to have more PIP, basically it goes so fast it cannot dissipate fast enough and you tear tissue. So 25 keeps you from going too fast even with thinner oils or hormones.
As far as length of needle I tend to see the 1.5 inch as ideal. If you go into your quad you can just use 1 inch of it or if into your glute you can use 1.25-1.5 depending.
As you move along in your experience you can even use insulin needles. They do make 29 guage at 1/2 inch and those are perfect for me to go into my shoulder. (You have to push hard on the plunger!) The tuberculin needles can be something like 25 guage and 5/8 inch, those I use for my delts if I need to have a fresh spot to pin. Mind you that you need as low as possible fat layer under the skin to use anything like those and it does take some experience to get the angle right for the delt.
I myself use the same needle to draw and inject most times. If I have to mix two hormones into one syringe I do change the needle before I pin. If you are ok with using the same point to draw and pin (it really doesn’t dull it that much especially with the smaller guages) then look for “tuberculin” and “low dead space” in the description when ordering. Tuberculin means a 1 ml barrel and low dead space means it is a syringe and needles made into one unit. There is no waste with a one piece unit. When you use the ones with separate needle and syringe you end up leaving some oil in the nipple that fits into the base of the needle. Also with the two piece units I have a pair of not quite needle nose pliers that I keep clean and only use to help grip the plastic base of the needle and screw it onto/into the syringe housing. There is a little line in the plastic base of most needles it is supposed to be where the nipple from the syringe lines up, I have never had any combination of brands or needles/syringes that fit all the way to that line even with the pliers helping me screw it on. So dont get worried if the nipple is like 0.25-0.5 mm from the line. When I first noticed the line I thought I was doing something wrong and not attaching the needle properly. One last bit, even if the needle and syringe come together in one package if they are not a one piece low dead space unit you will need to screw the needle on more than what it comes like in the package. I think the machine that puts them together only does a quarter turn or something, it’s on there but it’s loose and can easily come off.
As far as when to inject I like after a hot shower. You are clean and relaxed. I prefer a slow push in of the needle. If you practice you can actually get to where you do not feel it, as in no pain! The slow insertion is important because if you just jav it in your muscle will tense. That tense muscle is hard to inject in and no matter how slow you push the plunger that tense muscle will tear as the oil goes in. Tense muscle almost always means PIP.
Hope that helps you. If you are not perfectly clear on what I meant just ask.
Good luck and welcome to the world.
Thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated. I’m thinking of getting a BD 1mL Luer-Lok ( 309628) with 25G 1ml Precision Glides (305125), both to pull and pin. Would this be good?
Edit: There doesn’t seem to be any 25g with the needle and syringe in one unit in anything above a 5/8" unless I’m missing something entirely.
They are a bitch to find. My very first cycle a friend got me some they had that piece that extends past and around the needle I forget the term they used. I liked them and always look for them but have yet to find them. They were 25guage 1 inch and 1ml capacity. I wish I had kept a wrapper from one so I could properly search for them.
And yeah the stuff you listed looks good. I didn’t look up the numbers but they are all pretty standardized. There is no reason for you to spend the extra getting 3ml syringes when 1ml will do.
I forget what they call it but some syringes just have the nipple to go into the needle base, usually you see those at feed stores for animals. There is nothing wrong with them just be aware that with out the threaded skit that the needle base screws into the only thing holding the needle on is friction from the nipple. If you get those kind then when you are pulling out of the bottle or your skin be aware the syringe can come out of the needle base. If it is luer lock then it should have the skirt to screw the needle base into.
They were just like these but 1 inch.
25 gauge 1 inch monoject tuberculin safety syringe.
I gave a few to a friend and as far as I know he never used them. I have texted and called him to get a product number now that talking with you has me thinking about them again. The safety syringe part is not necessary but they were the only one piece 1 inchers I have ever seen, regardless of gauge. So me recommending one piece units to you on your first cycle was pointless. Sorry for the wild goose chase, but they do exist, or they did at least.
22’s for both work fine.
