My brother just called walking home from work in Seattle. He said the sky is swarming with helicopters and there are SWAT teams everywhere. A reporter told him a Middle Eastern man went into a Jewish Center and killed at least one and injured up to twenty. The news isn’t showing anything yet. I guess they have the building sealed off.

I find it quite fascinating the level of attention this event is having in National News – or, rather, the lack of it…
Maybe it’s because it’s Friday, I don’t know, but I find it somewhat strange.
It might be taken as a “small” incident by some, but events like these remind us that the global impact of this conflict keeps expanding, not decreasing.
Clearly past strategies are out the door.
The fact that nobody can really come up with any feasible, real long-term solution to prevent this from happening again leads me to believe that this is going to get much worse before it gets better.
Why are we letting anyone from Pakistan, or any other muslim country, into this country? Most arab-americans are fine people but we’re going to get a small minority in who should not be here. Its harsh, but we should simply not allow immigration from any muslim country. No visa, no green card, none of it.

I know I found it hard to believe it didn’t make the news. While not Jewish myself, I do have a very close friend who runs the Jewish Federation here. Just another reminder that we are not safe from terrorism on our own soil.

First of all, it’s not like Radical, Fundamentalist Muslims bent on killing all Jews are exclusive to “Muslim Countries”. They are EVERYWHERE. You’d have to completely close down the borders to prevent them from coming in.
Second, EVERYWHERE includes the US – there are plenty of them here already, and even if you closed down all borders tomorrow, that would hardly prevent any further terrorist attacks.

The point of this thread was to inform of an event that I can’t believe didn’t make the news. I mean Tom Cruise is still keeping his baby underwraps. Bush got caught saying an off color word on microphone. I mean its crazy what constitutes news in this county.

If Pakistan’s a spade the middle east is a hoe. Perhaps this guy had some problems not related to his religion or ethnicity, like wanting to stick up a bank but being incompetent? Perhaps that was the conclusion of the authorities i’m saying, so it was a small event i’m sure, relative to all the shit going on. Local news, definitely.
